January’s Toss or Trash Segment

I am challenging myself to finish more products this year and I have been doing, in my opinion, a grand job!

Here are my finishes for January, starting with the top of my head…

Suave’s Moroccan conditioner for color treated hair. This one is a keeper just for the fragrance! This large bottle runs about $5. It doesn’t strip my hair color as fast as a regular conditioner for dry hair and I use the matching shampoo. I don’t have to be skimpy on using a lot of this conditioner since it is so inexpensive.

I keep at least 3 deodorants in rotation because, it seems, if I use just one all the time, I become resistant to its affects. Degree is one of my favorite brands as it works fairly hard…

Plus, I love the smell of lilacs. Not that I continually smell my pits after using this. Hee hee! This Degree line doesn’t leave white marks on my darker clothing so it’s a keeper too.

Boy, my poor hands have taken a beating this winter! Thank goodness I stock up on Silk Elements Shea Butter with Olive Oil Hand Cream when Sally’s has it on sale before Christmas…

This is another product that I love the fragrance. I highly recommend this hand cream and it is my favorite. Extra points for it keeping my elbows soft too.

It seems that over the last 3 months my Toss or Trash segments have the running theme of moisturize. Lush’s Charity Pot lotion was highly recommended to me for being super humectant but, I allowed myself to get side-tracked while I was at the Lush store and got its predecessor, Formulae Known As…

I did get a little sample of Charity Pot and in retrospect, I should have gone with that because it is must more moisturizing than Formulae Known As. I won’t be replacing this lotion but will be getting Charity Pot next time.

Another product that I never want to be without is Bath & Body Works’ Stress Relief body wash…

You won’t find me without the partnering lotion of this fragrance either. Not only does this body wash not dry my skin out but, it is like bathing in liquid Valium. Stress Relief has been a staple at the vanity before there even was a vanity!!! If fragrance has an effect on you, let this one melt away all your tension and let it flow right down the shower drain. This wash, along with the lotion, are easy to snag for around $5 on sale at B&BW throughout the year.

How have you been doing with finishing up products?

Flower’s Kiss Stick High Shine Lip Color in Rose Bud

I have had my first lipstick from Flower for some time but it got pushed to the side, sadly. Flower is a brand that is an exclusive with Walmart and is spearheaded by the actress, director and producer, Drew Barrymore. I chose Rose Bud to try out…

DSCF0058 DSCF0060 DSCF0062

Not only is the lip color name on the label but also, it is given a code as well. Rose Bud is a very red rose color and I don’t have anything quite this shade so, I’m pleased with my color choice. I think the packaging has a higher-end feel than most other Walmart lipsticks too.  There’s a swatch of the color at the end of the tube and I found that the actual lipstick was a bit darker than the swatch…

DSCF0059

This lipstick is touted to be very moisturizing and I found that to be true. Using a lip primer and a lip pencil to line my lips, Rose Bud lasted an easy 6 hours on my lips. I will confess that I didn’t eat a meal during that time but rather snacked and drank from a bottle of water.

Flower names this lipstick line ‘Kiss Stick High Shine Lip Color’. But, you can see that this appears to be one matte lippie. I just love the look of a matte lipstick unspoiled!!! However, since I have had this tube for too long, it was time to break it in. First, I did a swatch on my hand…

DSCF0066

And, I am noticing that it was shiny after all. Oh, and that is just one, clean swipe. Yes, it was that pigmented!

DSCF0071

I don’t find Rose Bud to be super shiny but a nice balance of not totally matte and not glossy, either. And, I like how it looks with my fair complexion too.

DSCF0072

This lipstick didn’t deserve to get pushed to the back of the vanity, like I did! The staying power is great, the color stayed true and rich for a long time and the price is a fair one for such a good quality. I paid just a few cents under $7 for this. The only drawback I see is that I have to go to Walmart to find it.

Have you tried out any Flower brand makeup? Do you have a favorite?

Wet ‘n Wild: Silver Lake Eye Shadow Collection

Wet ‘n Wild slipped in under my radar with the new, limited edition Silver Lake collection. I strolled into one of my local Walgreen’s and found this surprise…

Hipster WnW Collection at Wags

I picked up all five of them before I realized I didn’t take a photo! So, I placed them back, snapped a photo and reclaimed my good fortune!

There wasn’t even the slightest bit of hesitation in acquiring all five of these colorful 6-pan palettes…

Hipster WnW collection

As usual, I use a Q-tip to swatch the shadows on my forearm. I have done it over a shadow primer, as well…

Thrift Store Collage 2 Embrace Collage California Roll Collage Vinyl Collage Vegan Collage

Most of these shadows are shimmery. There are a few mattes that are sublime. In Thrift Store Chic, the middle right side is a semi-matte light peach. In Embrace Obscurity, there are two mattes and they are the two middle shadows. California Roll has two mattes, as well, which are the right side shadows in the middle and bottom row. Vinyl Collection has one matte that is in the upper left-hand corner.

There is a slight over-spray of sparkle on some of these shadows and, if you look closely, you can tell which ones they are. (Curses to you, Wet ‘n Wild, for trying to trick us!) Even still, once past the over-spray, the colors are gorgeous and rich. I found Thrift Store Chic to be the lightest in coverage however, I was still able to achieve a bright and vivid eye look with this palette. As usual, there are several shadows that have some fall-out but, I’m able to flick those crumblies away with a whisky makeup brush.

I picked up the Silver Lake collection at Walgreens and I didn’t even bother to wait for a BOGO 1/2 off sale, which they have quite often. There was no way I wanted to miss out on these. Oftentimes, Spring collections are soft pastels which make me look very washed-out. So, you can imagine my joy seeing that Wet ‘n Wild not only surprising me with this collection but also with bold and vivid colors.
