Sample Sunday: CVS Nuance Body Cream

Sample Sunday is a body cream from Nuance. Nuance is a CVS exclusive beauty and body care line. The person behind the company is actress, Salma Hayek. This is ‘My Secret Super Moisturizing Body Cream’…

I got my first sample of this body cream when the products were first introduced over a year ago. And, I recently got another sample from CVS, who helped sponsor the last Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida meet up.

The body lotion is creamy. And it smells good. I really like it. And with the sample is a $2 off coupon. That’s always enticing.

Check out the ingredients and you’ll see, right away, just why Nuance is creamy and good for the skin…

Shea Butter, my favorite skin softener. And then Macadamia Seed Oil, that makes it smell good, as well as soften. And it has a host of other known skin softeners. But, does it work?

There was enough product for me to get two uses. I put it on, once at bedtime and then again in the morning, after my shower. Skin softness, affirmative. And, did I mention I really liked the smell of this?

I have this coupon tucked away in my day runner for an upgrade. I like Nuance for that Salma has made it: a natural, healthy, non-animal tested and affordable luxury product. There are a lot of other products to the Nuance line as well. You can either go to CVS and find it or, if there is no CVS near you, you can click here and see the entire line, as well as place an order.

Let me know if you have tried any products from this line and what you thought.

I Spy….Sally Hansen Polishes at CVS 12/16/11

I really wasn’t looking for anything in particular when I went into CVS but I found some goodies.

First, I saw a display of Sally Hansen polishes that are new to me…

Looks to be polish that smooths out ridges on the nails. Now that would be a nice effect!

Here are the shades…

Creamy and pastels. Not any that set the world on fire, for me. But I think they are going to be very popular for those that like a more quiet statement with their polishes.

Then I found a heck of a deal…

These Physician’s Formula creme eyeliners are on clearance. They are normally priced at $10.99 each. They are clearance at $2.75 each. So I saved a total of $32.96. I’m a happy shopper. And, I have to mention, I purchased the green palette first. I loved it and went back for more. These have real staying power. And they are pigmented ‘deluxe’. I highly recommend these! Get in on that savings.

What’s your opinion on the new Sally Hansen bottles? And, yes…I mislabeled these as Essie. They sort of remind me of them. How about you?

Better Late Than Never; Or, Shopping Early

I had some work, Monday, scheduled at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Once I finish my work, I take photos of it, to send to the company I work for, to show what I have done. This time, I took photos of new beauty products first.

I did it mostly because I was stunned….

Granted, Miss SinfulColors is not, like, old but, there is a new display of Adventure Island!!! It only had one bottle missing, it was that new. I thought I’d get one or two from these collections however, they were lackluster to me. No longer in vogue, or trendy to me. NEXT!!

I got around yesterday (watch how you take that!) and stopped in a CVS. I didn’t have hopes for this one either. But I did find something new to me…

I didn’t see any new shades in this 8 pack but, it has a nice color selection. The price is fairly decent too. Keep in mind, they are mini sizes.

After visiting that CVS, I stopped at one Walgreens closer to home. If you are a nail blogger, you probably know what I was looking for. No luck. Yet this was new to me, as well. I don’t think I’ve read about it either.

More crackle. I mean a LOT more crackle…

 Peek-a-Boo! I see you, Kimberly!

Hee hee…the tops are dusty. 36 different colors of crackle? No way!

I looked to see if there were duplicates. But I didn’t find any.

I didn’t get any of these…yet. So, I’m unable to tell you how the quality ‘cracks’ up. It’s named Cherimoya’s ‘2012’ collection of cracked nail polish. And for $2.99 a bottle, 2 for $5; the price isn’t killer. If there is a particular look you want to do with a crackle, you’ll surely find the shade you are looking for in this collection.

EDIT: My dear reader, Shally from Polished and Not Quite Put Together, just posted a nail look using 2012’s Black Crackle. Step over here and take a gander.

Today, I went by a Walgreens on the way home (a different one) and even though I wasn’t hopeful about the Wet ‘n Wild’s On The Prowl collection, I stopped in.

I didn’t find them, and I was prepared for that. However, I do want to mention to my faithful readers that sometimes Walgreens puts product out on the floor but, just on the higher shelves waiting to be ‘dropped’…

All these products are shelved on the top level of the shelf. This is the aisle that has mens’ products on the other side, and on this side is the hair care/products. These items are for the ‘first wave’ of Christmas retail. You can still shop for these items; they have to sell any product they put out on the floor. However, they are meant to be dropped, or placed, on regular shelves as the older displays dwindle down.

Most of these items are from Profusion Beauty. I got a set of 3 from one of these collections. I will have photos and swatches for you tomorrow.

One last thing before I wrap up…the display of Wet ‘n Wild that had the duo packs; it is almost empty, so I’m betting another WnW display will take its place. Please, don’t let me get my hopes up!!! *sigh*…too late.

Did you know about looking up on the above eye-level shelf at Walgreens?

A Handful of Forever Lilac

I’m being a geek and too panglossian!!  The NOTD is yet another sheer!!  I’m trying not to be naive, I think I’m just being hopeful.  Well, it is a pretty color, but not giving me the coverage I want.
Today I used Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength ‘Forever Lilac.’  This is one of the polishes that I got at CVS during their current 75% off cosmetics promotion.

This picture is next to a sunny window.

Mani and Bottle taken in a sunny window.

This shows the polish at it’s most true color.  A lilac color that is actually darker than a lilac flower; this is more pink.  There’s a silver shimmer to it.  On the nail, the shimmer really shows off.

This picture is taken outdoors, sunny.  Very true to the color.

A nail on my right hand broke, so I put on extra layers of polish today for re-enforcement.  This mani has one layer of Base-Ics Ultimate Base Coat by Olan Labs, followed with a coat of Seche Clear.  Then 2 layers of the Forever Lilac.  I think I would have gotten a bit more opaque-ness if I would have used one more coat, but I just stopped at 2.  Then I used 2 more coats of Seche Clear, with Seche Vite to finish it all off.  The Seche Vite gave it an even glossier look.
Forever Lilac is a beautiful color, don’t get me wrong.  Maybe next time a coat of white or opaque pink first, will keep the VNL at bay and give me a better feeling to the FL look.  This SH says that it is a ‘no chip nail color.’  Let’s see!

Tell me what you think of this color?  Good idea to put a more opaque color underneath?  Have you ever heard of, or used Base-Ics Ultimate Base Coat?  I get mine at Ulta.
