Sinful Colors Puts In A Little Secret With Pandora

Tomorrow starts another decade for me. Whoop-de-do. But, the good news is that you and four others can win some nifty prizes. Jump over here and enter.

Gosh, I haven’t even swatched all of Sinful Color’s Cast Away collection and they have a new one out. I went hunting today but didn’t find it. However, if you want to see what I’m talking about, check out Polish Fixation’s blog.

And there is a new China Glaze duochrome collection coming out soon too! Eeps! I need to get through my Hunger Games collection!

Quick, take a look at this fab one from Sinful Colors…

Aptly named ‘Pandora’. That is exactly what I opened up when I decided to become a beauty blogger. However, at the bottom of my Pandora box was a group of friends I never would have met if it hadn’t been for blogging. Thank you!!!

If you don’t know the story of Pandora, you should read it. It is one of my favorites from Greek mythology. And if you ever hear someone make the statement, ‘You’ve opened Pandora’s Box’, then you’ll learn what that means. (Not to mention that Pandora.com is one of the top best reasons for the Internet and radio.)

This shade is amazing…

I’ll say it is a softened, pastel orange. I don’t have a top coat on over the 3 coats of ‘Pandora’ so it isn’t super shiny on its own. But I totally OWN this color. It doesn’t make me have lobster fingers at all (accentuating the red tones in my skin). And I think I know the secret…

‘Pandora’ isn’t a creme. If you look super close, you will see shimmers of magenta in it. In the last photo, with totally blown-out lighting, I almost fake the look of a magenta shimmer in the reflections. ‘Pandora’ is very, very sneaky.

And, I like this shade soooo much. Why are all these new shades so incredibly gorgeous that I want to wear them for a long time!?? Do you think you’ll like this one too?

It’s so sweet and kind when people ask me how Kayla is doing. She is doing splendidly. She loves her new home and family. As much as she wants to play with Libby and Sebastian, they are still not quite sure about it. However, they do play chase back and forth down the hall. And knowing that Kayla is finally able to run and sit in the sun and be loved every day and any moment she wants it, shows me just a little bit of good in the world that I made for her. I must say that Kayla loves her Mommy. And I am totally in love with her too.

Color Club’s ‘Soul-ar Energy’ and Orange Sherbet

What’s up??? The TEMPERATURE is what’s up!!

When it gets this hot, I either want a super, cold beer or a cup of orange sherbet. This Color Club polish reminds me of the latter…

This is ‘Soular Energy.’ Nope, I didn’t misspell it. ‘Soular Energy’ comes from the Eco Chic collection. I won this from a giveaway that Mary at ‘Body and Soul‘ had. As a side note: Body and Soul is my go-to blog to find out what are ‘up and coming’ nail collections. How does Mary know what’s coming out before everyone else? I think Angels whisper it in her ear. 😉

A yummy, orange pastel, this color went opaque in 3 coats. It doesn’t have a lot of luster on it’s own. You could always add a shine top coat if you would like. I left it as is to get that cool, sherbet look…

When I look in my closet, I don’t see a lot of orange. I have pink, fair skin and orange doesn’t do well with my complexion. However, ‘Soular Energy’ is one of the exceptions. It does make the cuticle area look a bit off color, however, one would have to look this close to notice…

Creamsicle Orange, wouldn’t you say? For those of you old enough for when this was around…Baby Bayer Aspirin!!

Absolute Enamel – Baby Blade of Grass

Here is where I first talked about finding a display of neons and pastels at Sol.  Since I have so many untried polishes (surprise!), I limited myself to one neon and one pastel; both in green.  Here’s the green pastel…

These nail companies need to be ashamed of themselves for not naming their sweet-ums.  This is now called ‘Baby Blade of Grass.’

Of course it’s corny, but, I don’t think I’m the only one. *shifty eyes*

Two coats, fair application, too much swatching over the weekend ate my nails.  Ugh.  I didn’t give ‘Baby Blade of Grass’ any justice; just took a lawnmower to it. 🙁

I should, in all fairness to the polish, do it again when my nails are not this trashed.   I’ll be starting afresh on Friday with redone nails.  I can’t wait til they are pretty again.

Do you like green pastel polish?
Don’t forget my giveaway….here.

I Spy…New Stuff at Sol 4/15/11

Do you have any Sol stores in the malls where you are?  We have several of them.  They are like dollar stores with, mostly cheap jewelry (cute cheap, fun rings), socks, purses and bags, flip flops and makeup.

Here’s what I saw that was new…

Sets of neons and pastels.  $2.99 each.

Here are a couple of colors I swiped photos of really fast…

A powder pink.
A knock-your eyeballs out neon orange.
I exercised restraint.  I have absolutely no idea how, but I did.  Here are the two I purchased…

A pastel green and it’s cousin, neon.  Can you believe that NONE of these had names, just numbers!!  I didn’t think I’d get away with the photos much less hanging out to name them.  (Shhh…secret obsession)

Baby Blade of Grass pastel.
Go! Go! Green!

I want to swatch these this weekend.  That’s what makes my weekends fun.  Am I not exciting!!!!  OK, whatever.

Do you have Sol stores or something like them in your malls?  I don’t see anything unique with these colors; do you?

Met Pink’s Cousin~Lavender

Don’t waste any time!!  Jump over to my giveaway post and enter.  It ends Saturday, 10/2/10 at 10 EST.

When I was a kid, I remember the Avon lady coming to our house, sitting down with my mom and chit chatting while my mom looked at the Avon catalog.  Now, women shop Avon online.  Or, I do see shops at the flea market.  When I lived in Virginia, there was an Avon store.  Ah, instant gratification!

Now, before I go off on a tangent about how much I like Avon, let me put a photo up of a really cool Avon polish…

This is Nailwear Pro ‘Luxe Lavender.’  The photobox doesn’t capture the color too well.
Here’s one outside…

That’s just a cool, literally, purple.  This creme isn’t quite a pastel.  I think it’s just a bit too dark to be an out-and-out pastel.

The squared off bottle is easy to hold.  And, the top, being squared off as well, makes polishing quick.  The brush isn’t skimpy.  It loads up a nice amount of polish and applies very smoothly.

This is in the sunny window.  Not a terribly clear photo but you can see the shine.  This is two coats of color.  I needed that as only 1 made bald spots.  I have a coat of Seche Clear then Vite.

I’m just going to quit apologizing for my cuticles.  They suck.  I know it.  You know it.  We are all hoping that I can get them moisturized.  I did some swatching today and remembered to put on some Lemony Flutter before the photo shoot.

Anyhoo, I love that the back of this bottle is bare.  You can see for yourself that this is a cremey, dreamy lavender.  It’s a color I love.  But I bet you wouldn’t like it so much if the bride picked this shade for your bride’s maid dress.

Did you know that purple is pink’s cousin twice removed?  Yes, you can discover this on heritage.com!  So, don’t you think a cousin purple giveaway would make a nice theme?  I’m just sayin’……
