ELF’s Blush In Coy: A Functional Multi-Tasker

Many Walmart stores in the Denver area have been setting up elf ‘tree’ displays. I already own a lot of elf products but, as I read more blogs posting about other elf items, I’m adding to my collection. Here’s my newest one, a powder blush…

This one is called ‘Coy’…

And here are the good symbols I like to see on health and beauty packages…

As much as I think ‘Coy’ is a great color for contouring, it’s just too shimmery for my taste. ‘Coy’ is a light peach shade that has flecks of pink and peach shimmers. Therefore, I am using this, mostly, as a cheek highlighter…

And, I have experimented with it as an eye shadow too. That made for a pretty look and this powder is creamy enough that once it is patted on, it does have some good stay-put to it…

For a mere $2, this elf blush is a workhorse. It can be used as a blush (as elf intends it to be), a shadow (which I liked very much) and a face highlighter (what is very trendy right now). When I used my more densely-packed shadow brush, the blush was more crumbly than when I swiped it with a big, fluffy highlighter brush. You can see from the photo previously how crumbly just a finger swipe back and forth made it. But, the feel of this blush is very creamy once on the skin. I could definitely control how light or, how heavy I wanted to apply it.

In this photo, I used ‘Coy’ as a cheek contour only…

It’s a bit to shimmery for me and doesn’t give me enough depth at the cheek bone. Nor does it give me a ‘flushed’ look. However, in this photo, I used an old Avon matte bronzer as contour, an old (and favorite) Color Workshop blush, and ‘Coy’ on the very apples of my cheeks…

For the complete look, I have Southern Magnolia Minerals foundation, Chinovi’s ‘Gaga’ and ‘New Year’s’ shadow, ‘Gaga’ foiled as an eyeliner, elf brow pencil and Maybelline’s The Falsies Volum Express mascara…

It is hard to find a completely full tree elf display at Walmarts because the products are very popular. If you get a chance to find elf’s blushes, you might like to try ‘Coy’. It seems it would be not only be useful for several different jobs but also, it could work for many different skin tones.

Have you tried out elf’s blushes yet? How easy is it for you to find elf products?

I haven’t tried their blush yet – my Target carries a lot of Elf products, though. I love their concealer brush for nail polish cleanup, and I just bought a little kit tonight for setting makeup better. It’s a dropper of their setting liquid and a little pot for dipping your makeup brush before putting it in your shadow or blush. I can’t wait to try it!

    • I like the sounds of that kit too. I will have to look for it.

  • Ange

Such a pretty shade! Looks great on you.

  • FabZilla_Kath

Can’t go wrong with $2! Coy is a pretty shade and it compliments you so well.

    • Thanx! I’m glad it turned out to be a winner.

  • Betzy Carmona

It looks gorgeous on you 🙂

  • Justina

That’s such a steal. I think I’d use it as eyeshadow!

    • It’s just all around pretty.

  • erikatheicyone

This is pretty on you. Highlight a-go-go. 🙂 I can get ELF at Target her in Prescott, the selection is a bit spotty. I rarely venture into Hell-Mart, tho I probably should, to see if I can find some ELF that Target won’t stock. I also want some new Flower items and they are only carried by Wal-Mart so… 😛 Blech.

    • I think if you can get the ELF products you want and get a couple of Flower items, you’ll be set to go and not need to go back into Hell-Mart for a while. You can, however, always purchase ELF from their website too.

I’m liking this one as a highlighter, it’s really great value for the money!

    • elf is more often than not such a good gamble.

  • BeautyJudy

It looks pretty on you. Subtle. I love this type of shade for my pale skin it’s pretty lol

    • I was so happy it turned out well. This is a great shade for very fair skin.

  • It looks like a nice neutral! I like your eyeshadow here.

    • It really is nice as just a hint of color.

  • Noelle

Very subtle but I like it!

    • Nice for those that don’t go heavy with shimmer or highlighting. I would recommend it for those that are just venturing into trying highlighting.

  • Loving this as a highlight!

  • MyNewestAddiction

    I really love subtle shades!

  • I think it is a lovely shade but probably too subtle for me.

    • You like more ‘pizzazz’? They do have that with their HD cream blushes.

  • Holy cow, that’s a lotta shimmer! I’d use it as a highlight!

    • I doesn’t show until you get it on skin, that’s for sure.

  • Rebecca Russell

Ooohhh…that’s pretty! I’m so pale that it would probably work pretty well for me. My Walmart has 2 of the ELF “trees”; I may have to look for this the next time I go.

    • I’m eager to find out if you get it and if you do like it.

  • marciaf

I like being able to experiment with a $2 ELF item. That one is too shimmery for me though.

    • And there’s really no way to tame down this shimmery powder.

  • myCosmeticBag

i hate shimmer in blush, and that is A LOT of shimmer

    • You won’t want to go near this one!
