Garnier Greener Tour Teaches About Being Good To The Earth

When I was about 4, we moved into the house that would be the one ‘I grew up in’. It didn’t have air-conditioning. I remember we had this hideous beast of a swamp cooler in our basement, but it only kept that area cool. And our basement had yet to be remodeled. It was scary for a 4 year old to sleep down there. I don’t remember how many years it was until we had central A/C put it but, since I was just a small tike, it didn’t matter to me that there wasn’t any A/C. We would put on our swimsuits, go outside and play in the sprinklers. Now, decades later, I can’t even open my front door without complaining about how gawd-aweful hot it is. It doesn’t bother me at all to stay indoors where it’s cool and just paint my nails. Or, play with makeup and skincare items.

Last Saturday in Brandon, Florida, I went to the Garnier Greener Tour. Phyrra, from Phyrra.net, invited some beauty bloggers to come and learn just what Garnier is doing to keep our Earth cleaner…

This tour bus, literally a bus with a tour inside, not only displayed Garnier’s products, but also how they are working in tandem with TerraCycle to spread education about recycling and up-cycling.

We were given a tour to discover what Garnier is doing to participate in making our world ‘greener’.  I learned that over 1/3 of the plastic in landfills is from beauty products! So, Garnier is making their box packaging greener. I love that they are using a plastic that is easily recycled: PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate). This is the most widely-used plastic in recycling. It’s nice to know we can all make a difference by just using PET plastic containers. But, even up-cycling can be cool too…

The top is a makeup bag and the bottom, shower speakers! All made from used Garnier plastic..

There were some too cute cupcakes to munch on but, I just couldn’t eat any. They were so stinkin’ cute!

And there were ambassadors that were giving free demonstrations of Garnier products for summer-time hair. I had just a plain braid in but was eager to step up and see what they could do for my weather-worn hair…

This is called plaiting, or fishbone or mermaid braid. I love the look of this braid and wish I could make it on my own hair. All the different colors in my hair create a dramatic braid.

While I was getting my hair done, Maria, from Cult Nails, held onto my Fedora. Then, she almost didn’t want to give it back, she looked so cute in it…

This little girl told me her name was Odessa, and she granted me permission to take a photo of her…

Several members of the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers got a chance to try out some Garnier products and a quick ‘do too…

Garnier treated us extra special with a huge swag bag of their great items…

Check out that cute Garnier green thumb drive!!! Now I have somewhere to put all my blog posts I create while staying indoors and out of the heat! But, for when I do go out in the heat and humidity, Garnier has me covered there as well. I’ll be doing special reviews on these products very soon.

Thanks, Garnier Greener Tour for treating us special but also, for treating the world special too.
