Guerlain: Super Aqua-Serum

Back in May, the bloggers from Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida, were invited to a brunch at Neiman Marcus, which I posted about here. I received several samples of the products that were talked about. One of them was Guerlain’s ‘Super Aqua-Serum’…

When I think of the brand, Guerlain, I think of a company that has been around for quite some time. Their products are sold around the world. The company’s beginnings were in 1828. I have seen advertisements for Geurlain in my beauty/fashion magazines, but have never personally sought it out. Now I was going to get an opportunity to see for myself by testing a sample of ‘Super Aqua-Serum’.

The sample I got was in the tiniest, little tube, 3 ml of product…

As small as this was, I was able to get 4 uses. I tried 2 as part of the morning routine and 2 for the nighttime.

I’ll start off with the unpleasant part; this had a fragrance that gave me a headache. Once I applied it to my face, the fragrance lasted about 20 minutes before it dissipated . But, I have to say, the smell, alone, was a deal-breaker, for me. The smell reminded me of the way old-fashioned perfumes and skincare products used to smell. Like something my grandmother would use. And, Guerlain does make perfumes. They make Shalimar, which I love.

What this did do for my skin was make it soft. It didn’t sting or tingle. The serum absorbed into my skin no faster than most regular serums or creams. And that is another point; when I think of serums, I expect a gel-like product. This was a thin cream. The full-size version comes in a pump. So, if you do purchase this, do know that it is a white liquid.

The little sample tube is quite adorable…

The Guerlain website states that ‘Super Aqua-Serum’ not only hydrates the skin but is also a prevention from wrinkles. The full size pump is $165 for 1.7 oz.
