Holiday 2014 Wet N Wild Fergie Beauty University Palette

I purchased the new Wet N Wild Fergie Beauty University palette, a Walgreen’s exclusive last week. Since I liked the one that came out last year so much, and this year’s had more shadows and lip glosses, I thought for sure this was going to be a winner. Last year’s palette was $20. This year’s is $30…

First off, the footprint of this palette is larger than last years. In fact, I found it not only oddly-shaped but also, it was rather difficult to open up the first time…

It was difficult getting the top open. The entire box feels cheaply made and I was considered I was going to break it before I even managed to get it open…

Next, the sides pull out to reveal the lip glosses and glitters…

I felt that the gray/black shadows had very little variance. Usually, when they are sitting in the pan right next to each other, you can see a color difference. But, I couldn’t and in the swatches, there’s none whatsoever…

It looks like only four, maybe five, different color swatches but this is the entire bottom row of shadows.

I did random swatches and felt that most were fairly well pigmented, but most of them were super crumbly and it seemed like a lot of waste was being created. I swatched a few of the glitters and as with most Wet ‘n Wild cream shadows, or lip glosses if I were to use them for that, are practically impossible to apply…

After the shadow swatches, I did some gloss swatching. I found that all but a few were super sheer and these wouldn’t have put a lot of pigment on my lips. Several of them are colorless even on my fair skin…

The most disappointing thing I ran across was that just after dabbing my lip brush twice into the glosses, I was hitting pan. So one, these pans didn’t have a lot of product and two, the glosses were so runny that I knew they wouldn’t stay on my lips but for only a short time before migrating either completely off my lips or, on my face around my mouth…

And while the color range is pretty and there are a lot of choices…

The quality is not worth it in my opinion. For $30, I can go get a better quality palette, albeit with less number of shadows, at Ulta or a department store, for close to the same amount or, for just a few more dollars. In fact, I’d recommend the Profusion or L.A. Color palettes I have previously reviewed over this one.  I know I wouldn’t face the profound disappointment I have with this year’s Wet ‘n Wild Fergie Holiday palette.

Have you seen this display up at your local Walgreens? Have you or, do you plan on purchasing this?

  • WOW that is a serious palette! It’s too bad the quality isn’t there.

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

Definitely hit or miss. If the price point were lower, it would be a fun palette for a young girl to experiment with.

  • wow! that is crazy big!

    • For real! It took up a lot of space on my counter and even more space to open it.

  • erikatheicyone

I hope that you kept your receipt. You can do so much better when you get your money back. 😛

  • Wow! When I first saw it then I thought I probably have to add it to my wishlist, but now after reading your review I wouldn´t waste my money on this one.

    • Last year’s box was really great. I still pull it out and use it from time to time. But this was a no-go for me, IMO.

  • Aleya Bamdad

That’s a great palette. It has everything you need.

  • That entire set would be disappointing to me.

    • I KNOW you’d be very disappointed in purchasing this, Doll!

  • I never buy these palettes. They’re mostly hit or miss.

    • Kim, this was such a miss and I was royally disappointed.

  • Wow, I can’t believe that’s a Fergie palette. Usually her stuff is so much better than that. I would be contacting Wet ‘n Wild over that piece of crap.

    • You know I was saying ‘What the heck??!’ when I was trying to open it all up. And thought, this isn’t good…..

  • I saw this in the store and was skeptical given the low price for so much stuff. Glad I didn’t buy it now!

    • I think the price is way too high for the quality. The $20 one from last year was much better.

  • I am not a fan of the their glitters. I will stick to their other awesome palettes!

    • I learned many years ago that WnW’s glitter is garbage. I had hoped they had improved. Alas, no.

  • Amber

What a ridiculous package, seems so big! Too bad it’s such a flop!

    • It is a flop. Many of the shadows were nice but, I was looking forward to all the lippies and they were just too runny. It was like it had been left out in the sun!

  • Norah Salazar

Shame it wasn’t good. Looks like it could be a great starter set.

    • It still could be a good starter set yet, I would be disappointed in spending $30 for it.

  • Anastasia

Oh my goodness, that’s a ton of product for $30!! Even if the quality isn’t the greatest, this makes a great gift for a girl that’s just learning makeup.

    • Sadly, the lip colors are so runny that anyone would have them bleeding out over their lips.

  • Cosmetic Sanctuary

I almost grabbed this set, but now I’m glad I didn’t

  • Ooooohhh this looks super nice. Bummer that it sucked though. I do love me some Wet and Wild Fergie collection, but I am bummed it was a flop. That is a TON of product too. Great review!

    • I love my Fergie and WnW lippies so it was surprising at the poor quality of them in this palette. And, I don’t think any of my other palettes from them have been so crumbly.

  • Boo! That’s a waste of money for everything you didn’t get.

  • Thumbs down. I find the Fergie Collections to be hit or miss, bummer this is a miss.

    • I was a very sad panda!!! And I don’t like disappointment with makeup purchases. 🙁

  • BoOOOOOOOOOOO! I hate when something so seemingly awesome is a disappointment.

    • I literally did a double take on my brush going all the way to the pan on the gloss. It wasn’t like I was pressing hard at all. I was doing a gentle swipe and it was like the entire sea parted!

  • Man that sucks that you weren’t happy with it. It would be a great all in one palette if it was good quality

    • I wasn’t expecting high-quality but I wasn’t expecting it to be this bad. I am sad!

  • Oh man… I was really hoping this years collection would be a winner since last year was not so much.

    • And you know, I DID like last years.

  • FabZilla_Kath

Such a bummer! I would be ashamed if I were Fergie. Question is, was she even involved in the development? I guess not when she’s paid just for using her name.

    • LOL! She only sold use of her name and image. She isn’t in on development, I’m most certain of that.

  • It looks incredibly impressive but if the quality isn’t there it’s just not worth it.

    • My enthusiasm faded fast when I felt I was going to break it just trying to get it open.

  • Mai

Boooo that’s such a disappointing palette.

  • Thank you so much for this review–I am always so tempted by sets like this and now I can walk right by this one.

    • Sadly, this one isn’t one I can recommend.

  • Wow, tons of colors…but no good that it wasn’t good.

    • Lots and lots of potential but, just a no-go.

  • cindyprimebeauty

Wow that thing is huge, too bad it’s so disappointing!

    • One of the biggest beauty disappointments in quite some time.

  • Virginia Herron

Thank you for the heads up! Holiday palettes are always tempting and I recently picked up the LA Color 100 Eye Shadows one from Rite Aid. I was not so sure about this palette but after seeing some youtube reviews thought it might be worth it to try getting it during the $15 sale. Good thing I found your review, I can put that $15 towards anything else and it would be better spent. Now I’m happy I’ve stuck with the same ones you mentioned, LA Colors and Profusion.

    • I would love to see the LA Colors 100 shadow kit!

I just saw that Walgreens is offering this as a cybermonday special for $15, and I wanted to find out more about it. I’m so glad I found your review because I was really looking forward to getting it. I’m really surprised that Fergie let them put something out that was this bad! I know for a fact she did handle a lot of the designing of her brand when it came to her lipsticks, eye shadows, highlighters, bronzers, nail polish, and primers. I saw a video were she was talking about how much fun she had doing it, and coming up with the names with her mom. I really sad now that this palette is such a bummer! Oh well, at least I saved my money! Thanks!
