News From The Vanity

Hi! No reviews today. However, I do want to share some interesting, cute and worrisome things that have happened around the Pink Vanity this week.

Let’s get the worrisome right out of the way. I reviewed the Holiday 2014 Wet N Wild Fergie Beauty University Palette here. You can read my review but, in a nutshell…I didn’t like it at all. So, I did something that I have rarely done; I took it back to Walgreens to get my money back. I knew I wouldn’t use it. That was about a week ago. I was in Walgreens a couple of days ago and, I saw that on the display I got the palette from, there were two palettes. Each display comes with only two palettes to begin with. I had a feeling…

I checked both boxes and this one, above, had the seal on the box broken. I didn’t take it any further than that. I’m just thinking that the palette I returned got put back on the display! I saw some of the same factory assembly scuff marks on the box like the one I had purchased.

I live in Denver and we have been breaking 100-year-old cold temperature records. Luckily, the weekend before, I got out all of my winter clothes. I found a scarf that had this tag on it…

Lead scarf

Since the scarf was made in China, I get it. However, it seems odd that a scarf would have LEAD in it to begin with!!!

It has been about 16 months that I have been in my condo and am now just getting motivated to put my prints and paintings on the wall. This print is from a fairy calendar I had years ago. I liked it so much that I got it framed. If I remember correctly, it’s called ‘The Fairy Wedding’…

As I mentioned before, it’s really cold here. Look at these two cats on my couch…

snug as a bug catsThat’s Libby (yes, this is HER blog!) and her real brother, Sebastian. They do not like this cold weather whatsoever! As a side note, the quilt to the left is a handmade one from my dear Aunt LaVer. She gave that to me as a Christmas gift in 1979!! That quilt is still used today, as you see, and has held up like IRON…or should I say polyester!!! I love it!!!

Tell me, how your week has been going?

  • I love the color of the scarf. I do think that some dyes contain lead. Your cats are cute.

    • I got two of those scarfs. The other one is grey and black stripes with a solid black side. They are really soft and hold in the heat around my chest and neck.

Those cats are spoiled! I can’t believe they are 10 years old! They were so tiny when I got them!!!

  • Awwwwww your kitties are so cute. Bummer about that Wet-n-Wild. Kind of gross to think they just put back used products on the shelves. Ewwwww….

    • I was so tempted to open it and see. But, if I was wrong, then I didn’t want to spoil anything for the next customer. Walgreens will just have to deal with their own mess up!

Everyone loves my cats! They are soft and spoiled rotten!

  • kitties! so adorable 🙂 they look about as spoiled as my puppy!

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

Fun post! I take back products all the time. Why waste my money? Sorry that Denver got whacked with cold & snow so soon. We got a dusting this morning but it’s mostly melted, thank goodness

    • The last time I took something back was when the Infallibles came out. I didn’t like it at all. And that was maybe 3 or so years ago.

I don’t mind the snow and I know our cold snap shouldn’t last long. (Hopefully!)

Slimy! And wrong! People busting stuff open in stores and some who put returns back on the shelves is why I check things so carefully before I buy them. I feel like LIbby and her bro. Not liking the cold. The temps have dropped here, too and it’s cloudy, today.

    • It was one of the managers that took my return too. He either didn’t listen when I told him it was tried or, someone else saw it and just put it back on the shelf….maybe.

Those spoiled brats get the heating blanket turned on for THEM! LOL! For being a large breed, they sure are cold-blooded cats.

I will be hauling out Marley’s heating pad, soon. He doesn’t appreciate the cooler temps. Poor thing. Has such a rough life. 😛

  • Well, hello, Libby! She and Sebastian are adorable.

  • cindyprimebeauty

such cute kitties! Lead in a scarf??? Weird. So wrong to put used makeup back on the shelf!

    • Like Kim Porter commented, it surely has to do with the dye. But, I have never seen that before.

  • Betzy Carmona

I dislike when people open stuff in stores, take it home if you don’t like return it.

    • I have asked staff to open something in a box so I could look at it. But, I don’t think I have ever done that with makeup.

  • I love your cats, so adorable

    • I’d so have to watch you if you were around them; I KNOW you’d want to steal them. 😉

  • I’m not a huge cat fan (allergic) but sometimes I see cats and I’m like omg they are too cute I need them to live with me. This is one of those times.

    • These are the chillin’-est cats EVER!!!! You’d love that part! Harry is totally allergic but he knows he has to deal with it. LOL! Actually, I’m a big dog fan rather than a cat fan. These guys stole my heart, though.

  • I am not a cat fan… I’ve been allergic since I was a little girl though I do see them from time to time and think they are super cute. My sisters love cats… Your cats are adorable.

    • My poor husband is the reason we have cats. He is the cat lover. But, he puts up with them because of me. Now, I’m actually a big dog lover!!!

  • I have a dog that is very cat-like in that if there is a blanket or piece of clothing, she’ll be laying on it! That the Walgreens put your product back on the shelf is very disturbing. I’d be placing a, email to corporate…and checking my safety seals from now on!

    • I know, Nidia….I considered taking it further. However, sometimes I push when I should really back off. I could be wrong that it was just a product they opened up for a customer to check out. However, I just am so jaded that I get suspicious. I know any other customer will say ‘hell, no!’ and return it and then Walgreens will have to deal with their own mistake.

These two cats are Ragdolls aka puppy cats. They will follow someone around like a love-sick puppy sometimes. I notice that when I pet and love up on them in the morning that I have a ‘buddy’ for the rest of the day. Then sometimes, I think they are playing me just to get their food bowl put down for extra food. The truth is, I love ’em and spoil them!!!

  • Cosmetic Sanctuary

Thats just disgusting if they did that! And those kitties are so cute!

  • I think it’s interesting the scarf had that label too but I guess we all would assume it was lead free when in fact soooo many things out of china do contain lead even though it’s illegal.

    • Sadly, what you say is true. 🙁
