Pure Ice: The ‘Free Spirit’ Is Willing; The Manicure Is A Fail

Only one day away til the first day of Spring! I have always love celebrating that day because….it’s my birthday!!!

Here is a manicure I played around with for St. Patrick’s Day. I found that so many of my green polishes didn’t want to be opaque. So, I took white polish to try underneath with this one…

This isn’t a nice-looking manicure at all. Here’s what I used…

I started out with love and beauty’s ‘White’…

Then I topped it off with Pure Ice’s ‘Free Spirit’…

Each, in the bottle are so pretty and gave me hope. Can you see a bit of shimmer in ‘White’?…

I left my pinky with just ‘White’ on it to see if the shimmer would show. After two coats, it really wasn’t going to happen. And then, literally, slapped on ‘Free Spirit’ because I could see I wasn’t going to get the effect I was looking for. And, I put on three coats…

“Free Spirit’ has sparkly teal glitter but it became dull and uninteresting on my nails. This St. Patrick’s Day manicure wanna-be only lasted one day. It was a fail.

And, a bit of a confession, I did my right hand with just ‘Free Spirit’ and that’s why I went with a white polish underneath on my swatch hand. I couldn’t make either of them mind!!

I’m glad to move on from green manicures for now. How about you? Ready for other Springtime pretties?

  • Cosmetic Sanctuary

Ahh it looks so pretty! Too bad application wasn’t so easy

  • Nidia Doherty

Bummer! Those glitters are so pretty in the bottle. I, too, am ready to move on from green. I’m ready for this season’s barrage of peach! yes! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

    • Thank you! Oh, peach…YES!!!!

  • The color is gorgeous. Bummer about the application.

    • I think it deserves another attempt some other time.

  • Anastasia

Those glitters look lovely in bottles, too bad they were hard to work with.

    • It was partially operator error too. 🙂

  • Noelle

What a bummer! Still pretty in the bottle though.

  • Boo! It is pretty in the bottle, too bad it was not a win!

  • Kelly R

They look pretty. But not if you have to fight with it to apply it.

    • That’s it…I don’t want to struggle with a manicure

  • Kat D

I love that green! i think i may have that one too!

  • Betzy Carmona

It’s still pretty even with its negatives

    • I know, I’m still keeping it in my stash. 🙂

  • I wish the teal glitter showed up on the nail! That bottle makes it look so tempting. I hope your day was great 🙂

    • Thanks! I bet there is someone 😉 who could make this rock.

  • beautybymissl

The green nail polish look pretty in the bottle, too bad the manicure did not come out as planned 🙁

    • You should try to make it work. I bet you could and make it look easy too. 🙂

  • It’s such a pretty shade!

  • Boo on the application! White polish as a base is genius!

    • I have my Cult Nail’s ‘Nevermore’ for black nail underwear and usually I use their ‘Tempest’. But, I couldn’t find it when I wanted to make ‘Emerald’ do its thing.

  • That green is an interesting shade but shame about the application
