Pure Ice Nail Polishes

(These polishes were provided to me for my honest review.)

Sometimes, when you just need a little pick-me-up, a simple pleasure in purchasing an inexpensive nail polish can do just the trick. Plus, it’s calorie free.

I have several Pure Ice polishes that were sent to me to try out. They are all pretty and, the selection was a wide range of colors and types.

After Hours is a warm pink shade. It’s a great shade for Summer. I have applied 3 coats, as I did with all swatches here…

Next is Viva Las Vegas. Again, three coats of this rockin’ bronze polish…

Sea Glass is my favorite of the ones I got to sample. This is a very sweet, fun and not in your face shade. Even though it’s green, this polish goes with just about everything because it is demure…

Pure Ice is found, exclusively, at WalMart. The line has a multitude of shades from cremes, to metallics and fun glitters. They cost only $1.99 and that, my friends, is cheaper than a therapy session.

Which of these 6 is your favorite?

Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream

Ever since I got the opportunity to attend a special Central Florida Beauty Blogger Nordstrom’s beauty preview last year, I have been hooked on Kiehl’s products. Then Kiehl’s opened their own store in that same mall and, the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers were invited to their Grand Opening. As I learned more and more about Kiehl’s and got to try out samples (Kiehl’s is big on samples), I found even more of their products to love.

So, when they introduced a BB Cream, I knew I was going to get it at the next opportunity. And, with an SPF 50, it was a grand idea…

Mega swatch day 104 BB Creams are sheer so I use this either as a moisturizer before putting on foundation or, when I am going to have a no actual makeup day. I still get the moisturizing properties and a healthy dose of SPF. The added vitamin C helps with the turn-over rate of my skin. Cheers for a healthy glow!

The Kiehl’s representative agreed that the light shade would be perfect for me…

Mega swatch day 105Even though it looks a bit dark right out of the bottle…

Mega swatch day 108I found that once blended in, I get a fresh look to go with protecting my skin…

Mega swatch day 109 Mega swatch day 110 Mega swatch day 111This BB Cream didn’t leave my skin tacky or shiny, as I find some BB Creams to be. And often, products with an SPF over 30 are hard to apply evenly on my skin. Kiehl’s dries to a semi-matte once I apply setting powder. I didn’t get shiny after just a couple of hours. Yet my skin felt supple.

I haven’t found a BB Cream that gives medium to full coverage. However, as far as including a healthy SPF of 50, keeping my skin soft and moisturized and aiding in the turnover of skin cells, Kiehl’s, literally, has me covered.

Have you tried Kiehl’s BB Cream? Is this something you would consider using?

China Glaze’s Glitter Goblin Or, Cursing Camera Capturing

Allow me to do this post with my phone camera. I think it takes pretty good photos, however, I want to see how it translates to the blog.

China Glaze’s ‘Glitter Goblin’ looks so cool that I wanted to find a base color that would promote it efficiently…

Zoya’s creamy ‘Arizona’ worked quite well.

This is ‘Glitter Goblin’…

And ‘Arizona’, a perfect orange creme in my stash…

Using two coats of ‘Arizona’ and two coats of ‘Glitter Goblin’, the marriage produced a whimsical Halloween manicure…

Removing this glitter is exactly what you’d expect: nail scrubbing. Nothing to make me curse at a goblin, however. I cast my vote that it was worth the effort.

Have you seen ‘Glitter Goblin’ yet?

Nabi Polish Again With A Purple Creme And A Cult Nails Surprise

My last post was a Halloween manicure using Nabi ‘Dark Red’ and ‘Jumbo Lilac Glitter’. I purchased this Nabi shade, ‘New Lilac’ at the same time as the first two. I had it sitting on the table with me while doing the ‘Dark Red’ manicure. Naturally, I have to do something while my nails dry. Here’s what I did…It was just a lucky day that I was able to capture the true color of a purple polish! That’s astounding in itself. So, I’m happy to show you that this is, indeed, a yummy purple polish…

Next, I added the glitter top coat and that made it a party…

Nail Wheels to show the mix…

The top nail is two coats of ‘New Lilac’. A very pretty and true purple creme polish. The middle nail is ‘New Lilac’ with a top coat of ‘Jumbo Lilac Glitter’. And the bottom purple is two coats of ‘New Lilac’ over one coat of Cult Nails ‘Nevermore’, a one coat black creme.

And indoors, it still makes a striking appearance…

I’m so thrilled I experimented with ‘Nevermore’. Now I want to do a bazillion swatches using it to see how dark I can make other polishes.

Am I the only one that thinks the nail with the glitter looks like something from ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’?

Zoya’s Beach And Surf Collection: Zuza And Arizona

Zoya nail polishes were unknown to me before I became a beauty blogger. Before blogging, I didn’t stretch out much, at all, with the close circle of brands I used. Once I started blogging, however, I was reading more and more about Zoya. The many favorable reviews I read got me interested, and I had to see for myself. I found the comments to be true; Zoya polishes are that good.

The newest collection, Beach and Surf, have awesome summer of 2012 shades. I picked two that I thought were the most summer-y to me. Here’s what I chose for my fingernails…

This one is named ‘Arizona’. What an orange creamsicle color! When I put my fingers up to my ears, I hear this color screaming ‘SUMMER’!!

Applying cremes are such a challenge for me. It is about as illusive as trying to do a chin-up. But, getting this creme to look nice was easier than usual because Zoya has such a wonderful formula…

I applied three coats and topped it off with Seche Vite. ‘Arizona’ is almost a matte on me. Even the Seche didn’t seem to help it get to a high shine. But there is no denying that this creamsicle reminds me of a hot, hot day.

I have had just a couple of opportunities to wear sandals over the past month. I’m not really a ‘sandal person’. It’s not that I have something against showing my feet, it’s just that my work doesn’t allow toes to show. So when I can wear them, I want to have on the cutest polishes. ‘Zuza’ fit the calling this time…

I like my toes to twinkle. And I love wearing those ‘different’ colors as a pedicure. Maybe because it used to be a safe place to wear polishes that I wouldn’t wear on my fingers. Well, I’m easily over that now but, I have a special place in my heart for blue on my toes.

‘Zuza’ is that special…

This shade is a silver-sparkly teal shade that reminds me of the waters off a tropical island. That’s pretty summer-y. And, ‘Zuza’ is the type of turquoise that can look good on almost all skin tones. I’m not a lover of turquoise at all! But, when it’s made up like ‘Zuza’, I can get into that one.

You can find Zoya polishes at Ulta and on Zoya’s website. I usually order from the website because Zoya has some of the best specials. I got 3 for $15 from the last special. And their shipping time is very good.

What are your summer favorites from Zoya?

Happy Fourth Of July Manicures

Libby and I hope you are having a fun and safe holiday. My good friend, Eugenia, from Geniabeme Beauty Blog, asked for Fourth of July manicures to share on her blog. I told her that I wasn’t planning on doing one, however, since she asked and many of my other Central Florida Beauty Bloggers were joining in on the fun, I didn’t want to be left out.

I did both hands…

‘Silver Star’  from Kleancolor is the polish I wanted to highlight…

I used a bunch of polishes for this July 4th manicure…

Thank, Eugenia, for getting me into the fun! Click here if you’d like to see a bunch more Fourth of July manicures, hosted by Eugenia.
