Facial Mask Monday: VII Code O2M Oxygen Eye Mask

I gave my hands a good, fast rubbing when I was asked to review VII Code O2M Oxygen Eye Mask. I was looking forward to the experience.

While the main selling point for these eye masks is to decrease darkness under the eyes, I got my benefit from the plumping up of my fine lines. That’s always a huge plus for me. And, VII Code didn’t fail me.

A tip I was given was to place the pad packages into the refrigerator so that they will be cool when used. Not only was it brilliant but, it was the best part of my day when I did this. I had to have said ‘Ahhhh’ at least 50 times before I fell asleep wearing the pads.

I have gained wisdom in knowing that it is important to read the instructions. And that’s for anything that comes with instructions. When I read these instructions, I had to re-read them a few times. The product suggests wearing the eye pads for 8 hours over night or, for 4 hours during the day. Even though I work from home, I opted, for the first attempt, to wear the VII Code eye pads overnight.

So, the first night, I got the pads on my face and in place. I found the pads to have a very generous amount of product on them. The pads themselves felt very soft too. The product wasn’t tacky but they did adhere well to my skin. I didn’t have any issues adjusting the pads where I wanted them either.

Naturally, I was eager to see the results the next morning. I looked in the mirror and found that one of the pads had managed to get into my hair. The other one was on my pillow when I went back to make the bed. I did get a good laugh at seeing the one on my head. But, I am a sleeper that moves around a lot at night.

The pads did stay on my skin long enough for me to see that I had plumped up my fine lines. I spent plenty of time admiring this small miracle in the mirror. And, my wrinkles stayed at bay all day. Folks, we have a winner!

Wearing the eye pads during the day annoyed me too much and I’m sure it was because I was completely conscience of them. I didn’t leave them on for the required 4 hours. I got in just a tad over 3 hours. I yielded great returns, nonetheless.

So, I give VII Code O2M Oxygen Eye Mask a resounding applause for smoothing out my fine lines I have on the outer corners of my eyes. I can see a nice benefit for using these for 4 hours before, let’s say, an event in the evening.

You can order your box of eye masks at VII Code’s website. I also found them for same on Amazon’s website.

Facial Mask Monday: Studio 35 Beauty Anti-Aging Almond Mask

I tried a single-use mask I picked up from Walgreen’s and wow, this one is a winner at the vanity!

This is Walgreen’s own brand called Studio 35 Beauty. I have used many of their house brands before and, I have not been disappointed.

This is the Anti-Aging Mask in Almond. I didn’t detect a strong almond fragrance but, what was there was pleasant and mild…

I have spent more time outdoors this summer and, the air is dry in Colorado. I work very hard to keep my skin moist and my body hydrated. More this year than every before. A hydrating mask was just the thing to try…

DSCF0050

The directions state to leave the mask on until dry however, that didn’t happen for me. It just didn’t dry. I left it on about 25 minutes; both on my face and on the back of my hands (more on that in a sec). I went ahead and washed it off with warm water. My skin still felt marvelously smooth! So did my hands.

If you are ever uncertain about trying Walgreen’s products, they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. This mask was approximately $1.50. That isn’t expensive at all for a little bit of pampering…

DSCF0051

There are a lot of different ingredients in this one however, I found many of them to be known for hydrating the skin…

DSCF0049

This package was, actually, large enough to get two facials out of it. I know that in hindsight. Since I had so much left over, I used it on the back of my hands. They certainly could use some extra moisture, as well…

lots of mask

For a small amount of money and, virtually risk free, I recommend Studio 35 Beauty’s Almond mask. My skin felt a little plumped up after using however, it is temporary and, I went to bed shortly after my treatment. This might not be for the acne-prone or hyper-sensitive skin however, I think it could be used by everyone else.

Have you given any Studio 35 Beauty items a try?

Freeman’s Beauty: Honeydew & Chamomile Sleeping Mask

The Facial Mask Monday product is a different type of mask. This is one that is a cream, you put it on before bedtime and sleep with it on. I think I picked up this Freeman’s Honeydew & Chamomile Sleeping Mask at Walmart. They usually run about $1.37 or so.DSCF0022

I had only read other reviews about these types of masks so, when I found this one, I thought I’d give it a go. When a product says that it ‘deeply hydrates’, I feel they are talking to me…

DSCF0023

I was worried about getting my pillow and sheets messy. But, I figured it out by not putting it on as thick as an apply and wipe off 15 minutes later mask. That left about 4 applications from this one packet.

If you love cantaloupes, you’ll love the fragrance of this mask. I wish I had some in the refrigerator right now! It smelled just like the melon! ┬áThat, along with the chamomile set the stage for a very relaxing experience. There are lots and lots of ingredients in this mask. Wow! A lot of them are from plant and fruit oil that are recognizable…

How well did this one work? It worked so well I wish my skin would feel like this all the time. But, that was the next morning. I had a hard time keeping myself from rubbing in the product. And, it did sting my cheeks and nose for about 7 minutes when I first put it on. Maybe the facial wipe I used caused it? I don’t know. I don’t have sensitive skin so, I can’t recommend it to those that have any sensitivity issues.

The mask is a very heavy cream. When I applied it, it became opaque, however…

The entire time I prepped for this post, all I could think about was Mrs. Kravitz. How many of you are old enough to know her and her put-upon husband, Abner?

Mask Monday: Tony Moly Pomegranate Mask Sheet

This installment of Mask Monday is a sheet mask I picked up at Urban Outfitters. It’s got so many names and titles on it, I’ll just say it’s TonyMoly’s I’m Real Pomegranate Mask Sheet. This particular one is for elasticity…

DSCF0129 DSCF0130

This sheet mask is more expensive than the $1.00 Forever 21 masks but, cheaper than the Sephora one, at $6.00, I have all tried in past segments…

DSCF0131

However, this one comes from Korea, same as the Forever 21 masks do. I peeled these labels off to see if there was anything under them. There wasn’t. Maybe it was added info after the packages were printed up…

DSCF0133

Luckily, I’m not a newbie to sheet masks. The instructions are rather vague…

DSCF0134

But here are the English directions as well as the ingredients…

DSCF0132

The pomegranate ingredient is listed as ‘Pumica Granatum Fruit Extract’. How odd that they wouldn’t list it like they did the ‘Anise’ ingredient. Especially when they are naming this a Pomegranate mask. And again, the ingredient that they are advertising is way down the list of ingredients.

Anyway, this was a very juicy mask. And, the sheet was more delicate than others I have reviewed. I tore this just a little when I opened it up to put on…

2015-07-06 20.16.00

There wasn’t any fragrance at all. I left the mask on for 25 minutes while I reflected on my day. OK, to be honest I played a game on my phone. Nevertheless, I was relaxing and letting the mask do its job…

mask on

Nothing to see here but the same old, creepy look sheet masks give. After 25 minutes, I removed the mask and massaged in the rest of the serum left behind. My skin felt plumper, as it usually does after using a sheet mask. I didn’t feel the need to follow-up with a moisturizer. I did, as this was right before bedtime and, I’m fussy about applying it. You may not feel the need to add a moisturizer.

Was it worth $3? I say so. My skin still felt soft the next morning. As for as elasticity, I think I would need to continually use a product to make any significant results for that. However, I did enjoy using this mask and feel confident I could recommend it for any skin type except those that would find exception in the ingredient list.

Do you shop for makeup and/or skincare at Urban Outfitters?

Mask Monday: Sephora’s Ginseng Mask

If you have every been to a Sephora makeup store, you know how much time you can spend in there. Also, how much money you’ll spend too. It’s not hard to rack up a huge haul with a bill that’s even bigger. So, when I go to Sephora I want to make sure every single one of my purchases give me the best that can be offered.

When I picked up Sephora’s Ginseng Mask for toning & Revitalizing, it had some big shoes to fill…

20150621_194539 sephora mask 1

Kinda cute how the picture of the lady applying that ‘fiber mask’ is doing it oh, so smoothly. Aaand, moving on…

sephora mask 7

I love the bright yellow packaging the mask came in but, I didn’t like the white lettering for the instructions. You might say, ‘Hey, Kimberly…what? Are you new?’ However, I think it’s important to make the directions clear for everyone. There is always a first time and, I wanted to know exactly how long it was going to take to get revitalized.

This single-use mask cost $6. I have to tell you that right up front because all the other single-use paper masks I have purchased are not even close to that cost. Thus, my expectations were extremely high. I was impressed with the packaging…

sephora mask 6

I had to take this photo and enlarge it a lot to be able to read the ingredients. It sure as heck didn’t happen when I was at the store. I felt the need for extremely thick readers to see this…

20150621_194555

For touting Ginseng as the headliner, I found that it was listed high in the ingredients. And, if you squint really hard, you can see that there are several other natural/herbal type of items in there too.

The package that contained the mask was hard to tear open. I’m OK with that because there’s less chance for the mask to dry up. When I did get it opened, this mask was juicy…

sephora mask 8You can see some of the juice at the bottom. After I applied said juicy mask, I squeezed out some of the extra juice from the package and rubbed that into my neck. No need to waste.

Of course, I was kidding earlier when I mentioned the drawing of the lady applying the mask since these masks never quite mold to my face. Or, anyone else’s for that matter. I don’t fuss about it too much. This one was so juicy that I knew my entire face was going to get some product on it.

Now the good part; kicking back and chillin’ for 15 minutes while the Ginseng mask does its thing. While the product itself was very cooling, there was not any odor at all. Not even a hint of the aloe vera. But, that juiciness was mostly from the aloe and, surelycreating the cooling sensation.

sephora mask 10

When the fifteen minutes was done, I took a photo of my revitalized self, got a good chuckle and then removed the mask. I rubbed in the remaining juice and enjoyed very soft skin. Do I feel revitalized? Yes, I do. Do I feel toned as well? I would say so as my skin felt slightly plumbed after using this mask.

The entire experience was a very good one. I feel I got my money’s worth, my skin felt great and I enjoyed using Sephora’s Ginseng mask. I would love to use this one again.

Sephora has several different types of single-use facial masks. Have you tried any of them?
