Maybelline’s 24 Hour Tattoos: Dare To Go Nude Collection

Obviously, I love makeup. I couldn’t be a makeup blogger if I didn’t. And, a few of the items I get, I become obsessed with. Maybelline’s 24 Hour Color Tattoos are some of them. I know I’m not the only one either. You know how you find out you are obsessed about particular makeups? You get overly giddy when you find that limited collection and find it ridiculously hard to remain calm, cool and collected. You also have to hold your hand over your mouth when you pay for them because you are extremely giddy about it and want to blab your good fortune to the uninterested  (I promise) checkout person. But, when I can run home and photolog them…sigh…sweet bliss…

These are from Maybelline’s Dare To Go Nude Collection. Yes, I know wearing makeup and calling it nude a nude look is an oxymoron. That’s the fun of makeup.

I paid about $8 a piece for these. Considering they are some of the best products to wear as eyeshadow primers, I think they are a very worthy investment. Especially when I can put one on, do some eyeliner and mascara and I’m rather ready for work. Great payout for a little effort. And, the name ‘tattoo’ is meant to mean they.stay.put. With one exception that I’ll get to, that’s what these do.

The lightest shade, ‘Pure Nude’ makes for a flirty, shimmer eye primer. But, you can go it alone and call it almost a Marilyn Monroe look with a very dark eyeliner…

Next is ‘Stroke of Midnight’. I think this is probably 11 minutes after midnight because it turns into something way different, like once it’s past midnight, than the other five tattoos. You’ll get a shot of that in the swatches…

‘Nude Compliment’ is a name that makes me giggle. Compliments on my eyes, I’m totally sure is what it means. This is the best taupe eye shadow primer/cream I own. If you get just one, this would be the classic for your Vanity…

I know ‘Caramel Cool’ isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. However, the effects it has with green and yellow eyeshadows is so worth the investment. You will be pushing all of your eyeshadow looks to new limits with this one…

Now, if you only get TWO, you should get ‘Sleek & Spice’. I love this one as a stand alone. I used my richest brown eyeliner (*cough Beauty From The Earth’s upcoming ‘The Last Drop’ eyeshadow cough*) and I have made the fastest smoky eye in the West…

Last is ‘Beige-ing Beauty’. What looks like a peachy-nude, actually has this orangey duo look to it. Totally awesome. Totally unexpected…

‘Stroke of Midnight’ was so patchy that it had to get a severe pat-down and, that still didn’t quite do the trick. I am going to have to fiddle a lot with that one. My next trick will be to see if I can use it as a cream eyeliner. I won’t be using that one much as a primer or shadow, I can tell. The others, they are work horses. I love them all and am pleased without any doubts to add them to the Vanity.

I found these at Walgreens in a display and have been seeing them more and more. But, they are going fast because I haven’t seen a full display with all six shades since I picked these up.

Are you game?

Forever 21: I Haven’t Been There In Forever

My job no longer allows me the opportunity of working in malls. I’m bummed by that. I miss shopping the stores after doing my merchandising. I really miss popping into Forever 21. Luckily, there is one in the mall that I live close to. I just don’t get up by it at all.

So, I made a special road trip to visit the Forever 21. This store is huge too! I picked up this cutie blue on this last visit…

nail swatches 044 nail swatches 046Hmmm…interesting name. I rather like ‘Cutie Blue’ better. It was that shimmer of gold that reeled me in. I didn’t even try to resist…

nail swatches 047Application was on the thin side and I had to use three coats. A visible nail line is still well, visible. Rest assured, it wasn’t that noticeable from a proper distance…

nail swatches 049 nail swatches 053This Forever 21 polish wore well considering I used Nail Tek 2 Intensive Therapy as a top coat. It’s actually made to be used right on the nail to strengthen it. But, I couldn’t for the life of me find any topcoats. Weird, eh??

I stopped by a Walgreens today. I noticed that they have those top shelves up over the shampoo and haircolor products. Not all of them have those shelves until the Holidays. Get ready to start peeking up there for Holiday makeup goodies!

NYX: Glam Liner Aqua Luxe Eyeliner in Glam 24 Karats

In August, there was a display of new NYX products on the counter at Ulta. Well, actually, new shades. I was almost at my budget for the month but decided to blow it because I knew these colors would go fast. And, I was so right! I went back two days later to get more and there was only 3 items left!!

NYX’s Aqua Luxe Glam Liners are one of my very favorite liquid eyeliners. I got this one with the Holidays in mind…

Other gold eyeliner pencils I have tried just don’t do as well as gold liquid liners. This solidifies my belief…

I have been wearing this with various shades and intensities of green eye shadow. The brush is very flexible but still easy to use so I don’t make too wide of a line, if I don’t care to. And that liner does.not.budge.

‘Glam 24 Karat’ is the perfect name. It really does look like gold. Wearing bold gold eyeliner is, or rather WAS, stepping out of my makeup comfort zone. Yet, every time I wear this, I get a compliment. That’ll make me twinkle, for sure!

Do you have this Glam Liner Aqua Luxe from NYX?

Pure Ice Polish: Taxi in Velour Texture

Pure Ice nail polishes has, recently, released a gob of new shades and textures. I couldn’t pass up the fun. One of the textures is called ‘velour’…

This pretty purple is called ‘Taxi’. I just know there is a story behind that name, I just don’t know what it is. I do know that I think it is pretty…

At the curve of the bottle, can you see the golden shimmer? That’s what makes this purple polish pop. In some light, the color looks all gold.

This is three coats. I did use Lumos Top Coat and I still have this polish on after a week. I have the slightest bit of tip wear. I know I could get more mileage out of this mani too. I just am ready to try something else. And, when I saw all these new Pure Ice polishes, I got a bunch!

Did I mention that they are only $1.99 at Walmart? I have some polishes that cost 5 times that amount and don’t perform as top-notch as Pure Ice does. I got lots so look forward to more swatches.

L’Oreal’s The Enchanted Queen Collection: The Temptress’ Touch Nail Polish

Many cosmetics that come out around Halloween are not blatantly said to be for that holiday. This L’Oreal polish is one of those…

This is from L’Oreal’s Runway series and is from The Enchanted Queen collection. Even the name of this polish is wicked: ‘The Temptress’ Touch’. She’s just the slightest bit of a duochrome. Enough to mesmerize you…

I wouldn’t have dreamt that a lime green polish that morphed into a gold shimmer would be so delicious…

If you like nails that get attention, ‘The Temptress’ Touch’ is the one you want to get. I must have had 3 different people ask me about my nails the day I wore this. I have on three coats and a top coat of Color Club’s Eco Chic. Wonderfully smooth, I didn’t have an ounce of issues applying this L’Oreal Fall color.

I had tip wear, after two days, on my middle finger but that comes from my work. And, even if L’Oreal didn’t say this was a Halloween collection, ‘The Temptress’ Touch’ debuts at just the right time for it.

Sinful Colors: Pumpkin Spice Nail Polish

Sinful Colors will put out a few hits during the year. I don’t know what they have up their sleeve for the Winter Holidays, but I like what they are giving us for Halloween…

This one is ‘Pumpkin Spice’. Very glittery and totally glitter!…

Equal amounts of gold and orange glitter make up this un-scary polish. But there isn’t much that can be scary with the word ‘pumpkin’ in it. There’s pumpkin spice bagels, Starbucks chai, eggo waffles, pumpkin ale, pumpkin cheesecake, candles, coffeemate creamer, cupcakes… I feel like Bubba going through all the shrimp recipes!!!

‘Pumpkin Spice’ is right on the money as far as glitter. It’s dense in the bottle for sure. But, it isn’t very dense on the nails…

This is three coats. I stopped there only because I ran out of time. I do think a very soft orange sherbert polish as underwear would have given ‘Pumpkin Spice’ more refined look. But, there is a trick lurking when you want to remove this polish: glitter. Need I say more?

But, by itself, it gives a fun and playful feel…

What is your favorite glitter to wear during Halloween? Have you had a chance to find Sinful Colors ‘Pumpkin Spice’ yet?

Rehab For My Nails: Thanks To Flaunt Beauty Bar

I have mentioned several times, over the past few weeks, that my nails have been in rehab. They broke, tore, and became weak. I have been using a couple of products that I will give separate reviews on but I wanted to show that there has been some light at the end of the tunnel.

Here are the nasty critters before getting a manicure…

I snapped these photos before my friend, LaShon Evans, owner of Flaunt Beauty Bar, in Orlando, FL put her expertise to work. I told her I needed help and I knew she was the expert to help me out. She said not to worry my pretty lil head and come on in, she’d take care of me.

I bet she’s seen some doozies before, because she said my nails weren’t in all that bad of shape. She said that they were not as thin as I believed them to be, save for my two middle fingers. But, she said that with better TLC than what I have put forth, I could get back on track. And she gave my nails a makeover…

She cleaned them up and applied clear soak-off Gelish to stop the tears (even the weepy tears!). For the most part, they are all even and in uniform shape. My right index finger is the worst and it will take a bit of time for it to grow even. But, I am now hopeful.

Next, LaShon polished my nails with Barielle’s ‘Fancy Pantsy’…

‘Fancy Pantsy’ is a dusty pink with this awesome golden shimmer in it. It’s just lovely. In regular viewing of my nails, they look fine. But I am disappointed in how this polish applied on my nails…

It isn’t terrible but it just seems prettier in the bottle. LaShon agreed with me that the polish didn’t want to apply very well. It doesn’t spread out evenly. She had to really work with it so it wouldn’t be patchy. But she got the job done and I’m happy with my nail makeover.

Here’s one last photo taken in the shade…

You can see that the thumb just didn’t come off as smooth as we would have liked. Yet I am so happy I went to LaShon at Flaunt Beauty Bar. She not only gave me hope but I had a wonderful time with her as well. If you live in the Orlando area, I highly recommend her for all of your nail needs.

This is only the second or third Barielle that I have tried. I was supplied this from Barielle to review and even though I don’t dislike the polish, this one was difficult to work with. These are my own, honest opinions.

Milani Monday Series: Runway and Marbleized Baked Shadows

One of my favorite makeup brands is Milani. I don’t think they can come out with new products fast enough to satisfy me, I love them that much. So, I thought I’d start a new semi-series of Milani Mondays and share with you Milani items that I own.

The first Milani products I purchased were eye shadows. The colors trapped me on first look..

Here are a couple of regular shadows from the Runway collection: ‘Peaches and Cream’, ‘Golden Touch’; and a marbleized baked shadow called ‘Must Have Fuchsia’.

This is ‘Peaches and Cream’…

I thought that the sparkles were just a spray-over but they are there even below the top layer. And the pigment on all of these is solid. I haven’t tried them foiled (used with water) but I bet they continue to shine. I use ‘Peaches and Cream’ as an all over base, to which I layer other colors on top. And I like it alone for a more subdue feel.

This is ‘Golden Touch’…

‘Golden Touch’ isn’t quite as sparkly as ‘Peaches and Cream’, ironically. But it is still a very warm and bright shade. Mixed with other shadows, it adds a lot of warmth.

And the show-stealer, ‘Must Have Fuchsia’…

She steals the show, doesn’t she? You can see that I have put a dent in this one. I quit worrying about using colors I deemed too bright. Yes, this one is bright but doesn’t it look so otherworldly? The marbled look is so complex. And just like the other two, the pigment is strong and true. Fuchsia doesn’t have any sparkles though; it has a shimmer.

I swatched these with just my finger…

It looks like Fuchsia wants to be streaky, but it is not. These are very creamy and blend so well. Because of the sparkles, though, there is a lot of fall-out. I’m OK with that. A fan brush whisks it all away for me.

Now that I have done a review on these, I think I’m going to set them on the vanity and use these three together for an EOTD (eye of the day) look tomorrow. I think I can come up with something very hot!

Have you tried any of Milani’s eye shadows? Do you have a favorite?

China Glaze: I Herd That From The Safari Collection

While my nails are in rehab, I can fondly, sort of, go through my photos of swatches and remember some good times. I bought nail wheels this week because I have so many new and old polishes that haven’t been swatched. It’s going to be a marathon on wheels. It will surely do my nails good to continue to recuperate.

I should show more of the Safari collection that China Glaze put out before another collection shows up. However, every one of the shades from that collection were lovely. They were unique for my collection. I had a lot of favorites, unable to pick just one.

How about this one…

This is ‘I Herd That’ and it is a special one from the whole collection. I would think this shade would be better for a Christmas collection but hey, why wait?

‘I Herd That’ has colors in it that do make me think of the Serengeti, as well. It is a micro-glitter with bronze, gold and red. I don’t know how I can associate colors of the Serengeti with something that could be in a Christmas collection but, that’s the fun and quirkiness of the beauty industry.

I still enjoyed the heck out of wearing this color…

It looks gritty because it is. I, actually, don’t mind that. When it makes something look this awesome, I’m very OK with texture. Notice something, though. I only put one coat on my thumb. So, for a more toned down look that could be office-friendly, this just could do it. Let me know what you think because I don’t work in an office setting and I wear anything.

‘I Herd That’ isn’t disco ball sparkly. It’s almost matted. And I think that’s what gives this a softer personality. I didn’t put on any top coat because I liked it just the way it was. And it wore very well. This polish gave a good wear for the 4 days I kept it on. And, ‘I Herd That’ was one that I was reluctant to remove, I enjoyed it so much. It must have been reluctant to leave me too because it took some of that extra ‘get this glitter off’ work. Even though, I could easily bring this polish back out at Christmas.

How about wearing this to work…yay or nay? Do you like the softened glitter look?
