Forever 21: Pink and Grey Powder Palette

It was a real surprise to find out that my review on a couple of cream eyeshadow palettes from Forever 21 was one of my most popular blog posts. It was cool that may others felt the same way I did about how beautiful they were.

I’m not expecting to repeat it with these powder shadows from Forever 21 however, I still think they are neat to look at and work pretty darn good on the eye…

Not all of the shadows have a batik look to them…

It just appeals to the magpie in us for shiny things. However, the swatches are divine, regardless. I swatched these in the same order they are in the palette, starting from the top row, going to the right…

It looks super-duper dark grey/blakc in the palette so, it’s odd that it swatches as a golden brown. Don’t think I’m complaining! I love the swatched shade! And the two on the right end; yummy for the brow bone.

I used a Q-tip to swatch these. I have found when I use a brush, I don’t get a good, saturated swatch. Just by experimenting, I found that a swab grabs the powder and transfers to my arm better. And, these swatches, as with all my others in the blog, are not done over any primers.

Can you imagine how many looks you can get from this palette? Soft pink to a smoldering smoky eye. I did spend quite a few days playing with this Forever 21 palette…

love & beauty: Two Shadow + Primer Eyeshadows

Do you know what an eyeshadow primer is? It is a product that you apply to your eyelids in hopes that when you apply an eyeshadow that it will stay put, not crease or fade…until you take it off. Lately, I have been discovering more shadows with the primer already in it. Here’s a couple of my most recent finds…

review photos Dads Kiehls 004So, I put them to the test right away. I used ‘Light Grey’ all over my eyelid and used an eyeliner pencil along with mascara. I got creasing in about 3 hours. I tried ‘Champagne’ and it lasted just a bit past 4 hours.

It defeats the purpose, but I applied Ofra’s Shadow Primer and then used ‘Light Grey’ over that. I did manage to get about 4-4.5 hours this time. As much as I love the idea of splicing shadow with primer, I’m still looking for one that truly performs. I swatched the shades and you can see that they are quite pigmented and shimmery…

Have you found any good shadow + primers?
