Sinful Colors: Luminary Just In Time For Halloween

This is a persnickety polish!…

This Sinful Colors polish is named ‘Luminary’. And, if you like orange, you’ll like this orange sherbert sparkle. I thought it would be cute for Halloween…

I don’t seem to have the skills to get orange with shimmers to apply well. I restarted this manicure twice before I got it to layer down evenly and not throw patches at me. But, because I like this color so much, I persevered…

The shimmer in ‘Luminary’ goes from magenta to just white. But, it gives this orange some character that a pastel orange lacks.

As I mentioned, I had to really work to get this Sinful Colors polish to do its job for me. It is on the sheer side and it kept getting patchy. So, I have four coats on, with the fourth one being rather thick. Since I did that, I didn’t put on a top coat. If I did, it would have taken way too long to dry.

Do you think this makes a good Halloween color or, should I save it for Easter?

Nabi: Dark Red Polish For A Halloween Bloody Nails Look

When I first saw this polish, I KNEW I was going to use it as a Halloween manicure! Just look!…

Nabi nailed it with ‘Dark Red’ as THE blood red. This bottle looks like it is filled with blood. Here’s what it looks like on my nails…

This is only one coat. I didn’t mean for it to look so terrible. It so looks like I got bloody nails. Ewwww…

As I was sitting at my table waiting for this coat to dry, I thought I’d see if I could lighten up the mood with this glitter…

‘Lilac Jumbo Glitter’ is also by Nabi and the name doesn’t lie. A translucent pale lavender jelly with hex, bar and micro iridescent glitter. Make that a LOT of glitter business going on. Adding that to ‘Dark Red’ got me this…

I put on 2 coats of ‘Lilac Jumbo Glitter’ over one coat of ‘Dark Red’. I didn’t need a top coat because that glitter laid down very smoothly and is so shiny. This look is a Bloody Birthday Celebration creation. LOL

This is what two coats of ‘Dark Red’ look like on the nail wheel, and then one with two coats of ‘Lilac Jumbo Glitter’…

It’s weird that on the nail wheel ‘Dark Red’ isn’t a blood red but more of a Christmas red.

And the removal was totally gory…

Eeeeee! I have clear soak-off gel on my nails and ‘Dark Red’ stained them bad. I was going to soak off the gel and reapply anyway but DANG!! This looks like I got my nails caught in a grinder!

In scrutinizing the gory photo, I see that my nail beds look rather healthy and that my free edge is really my own; no enhancements. I just had the clear bottom and top soak-off gel on them. And, thankfully, my nails grow fast. I wish the nick on my middle finger would heal as fast. But, with the nature of my work, I bump that area almost every day. Poor finger!!!

A Halloween Duo: Napoleon Perdis’ Santorini Sunset’ and Orly’s ‘Just The Right Amount Of Evil’

I get such a delight seeing the pumpkin patches show up for Halloween. When I lived in Virginia, there was a farmer’s market very close to my house. Not only did I look forward to seeing the pumpkins show up, but they’d have one of these too…

And, I also look forward to having Halloween-inspired nails. This orange shade is just plain fun…

The polish is by Napoleon Perdis. He is a makeup artist and has his own line of products. I tried to find out where to purchase these polishes and it appears that Sephora used to sell them. But when I checked their site, none were listed. Same thing with Napoleon Peridis’ own site. There are just a couple on ebay, at this time. I’m thinking this polish is somewhat hard to come by.

This polish is from the Chandelier line and is named ‘Santorini Sunset’. I loved the orange shimmer shade right off. When we have meet ups with the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida, we have a product swap. This was in the box and my eye went right to it. I didn’t have a Halloween look intended, but it worked out that way…

With a total of three coats, ‘Santorini Sunset’ was still sheer enough that some nail line was showing. But, I had to really look as close, as this macro shot, to see it. Under normal circumstances, it was not noticeable. This polish applied very evenly and easily. I did add a top coat of Lumos to keep the tips from wearing down.

A trick to help cover up visible nail lines (VNL) is to put a glitter top coat on. That’s what I did to complete the Halloween appropriate nail look…

Orly comes up with some of the cutest and coolest polishes for holidays. This is ‘Right Amount of Evil’, one of the 30+ polishes from their Flash Glam FX Collection. A collection, I may add, that I feel the need to own completely.

This polish does work best as a top coat because the base is a very translucent, jelly orange. I didn’t like how it looked alone. I wanted all of that iridescent bar and hex glitter to show. The orange micro-glitter wanted to sparkle. And there is just a pinch of magenta micro-glitter in there to keep you guessing. I guess I’ll be wowed…

As the days get shorter, this orange fire light casts a cheery Halloween look. Hopefully, a bright enough light to chase away even hale bale spiders.

Sinful Colors: Pumpkin Spice Nail Polish

Sinful Colors will put out a few hits during the year. I don’t know what they have up their sleeve for the Winter Holidays, but I like what they are giving us for Halloween…

This one is ‘Pumpkin Spice’. Very glittery and totally glitter!…

Equal amounts of gold and orange glitter make up this un-scary polish. But there isn’t much that can be scary with the word ‘pumpkin’ in it. There’s pumpkin spice bagels, Starbucks chai, eggo waffles, pumpkin ale, pumpkin cheesecake, candles, coffeemate creamer, cupcakes… I feel like Bubba going through all the shrimp recipes!!!

‘Pumpkin Spice’ is right on the money as far as glitter. It’s dense in the bottle for sure. But, it isn’t very dense on the nails…

This is three coats. I stopped there only because I ran out of time. I do think a very soft orange sherbert polish as underwear would have given ‘Pumpkin Spice’ more refined look. But, there is a trick lurking when you want to remove this polish: glitter. Need I say more?

But, by itself, it gives a fun and playful feel…

What is your favorite glitter to wear during Halloween? Have you had a chance to find Sinful Colors ‘Pumpkin Spice’ yet?

Cosmetic Arts: I’ll Name It ‘Victim’s Blood’ For Halloween

Deep, blood-red glitter…

Cheap too. But, uncanny richness and depth…

Right here for Halloween…

Three coats with a top coat of Lumos Top Coat. This polish was smooth. Application was awesome. This photo shows how it looks most of the time…

No name on Cosmetic Arts so my pick is ‘Victim’s Blood’…

A couple of rouge glitters! What can I say but this is a wicked Halloween polish. Do you like it?

Piggy Polish: Lightmare For Halloween

It’s treat or trick time! This polish got the trick on me…

This is Piggy Polish’s ‘Lightmare’ for Halloween. I got this at Ulta and it was $7.50. All I can come up with is that this shade is weird…

I get the orange glitter. However, the milky black base, with gobs of not quite black micro-glitter, that ends up looking like dirty water, I don’t get or like…

It applied OK. It was a bit thick but, that actually helped the glitter to transfer. I have 3 coats on with no top coat. There’s no compliant about how it covered. However, I should point out that it is key to watching out for possible bald spots.

It’s just that this combo is not my cup of tea. ‘Lightmare’ isn’t something I’ll be holding onto…

Even in real life, that dark gray gives off a bluish cast. I’m just confused over this entire polish color!

I’m feeling compelled to watch the presidential debate. Sounds like a good time to remove this polish. I can tell it’s going to be a beast…the polish, not the debate.

Is it me or is this Halloween polish a trick?

I Spy…Lots Of Halloween and Fall Makeup From Wet ‘n Wild, Revlon, L’Oreal

(Picture heavy and snapped with my cell phone.)

Halloween makeup has been showing up in stores for better than a week now. I usually spot them at Walgreens first. Sinful Colors got their collection out in good time…

But, I also spied another Sinful Colors for Fall…

I think there might be two new colors in this collection. However, most of them I recognized and already have.

Revlon has a cute Halloween collection with stencils…

It wouldn’t be the same if Wet ‘n Wild didn’t do their Fantasy Makers collection for Halloween. I saw two different displays. One was an endcap, which is a larger display. And the other was a smaller version, as a sidekick, which is to the side of the endcap..

L’Oreal has several of their Runway collections out. This limited edition is ‘The Enchanted Queen’…

One of Revlon’s newer collection, ‘The Shanghai’ has rich, Fall colors. Unfortunately, I like powder shadows and these awesome shadow shades are creams…

There is a new retail store in Orlando called ‘The Christmas Tree Shops’. It isn’t just Christmas stuff, though. In fact, it’s more other kinds ofstuff! Owned by Bed, Bath & Beyond’, this store has a Harmon Department as well (Harmon stores have the makeup, skincare, cosmetics, hair care, etc. department).

I found this there…

And, here is one display that should be for Christmas that has sneaked in on us…

Just a couple more things to show you. I found this at Icing’s Store (And I have a great, big UGH on this)…

But, the REAL Halloween stuff was in the CANDY aisle…

So, besides a bag of each of those candies (which I used for a giveaway at a bloggers’ meet-up), this is what I came home with…

I got the Halloween charm earrings at the Christmas Tree Shops. I will be doing a post on the 8-pan Wet n’ Wild palette soon.

What Halloween makeup have you seen? What are you getting?

I Spy…L’oreal Nudes and Sock Monkeys

We don’t move from one season to the next here in Orlando. We move from hot, hotter and hottest seasons. Right now it is hottest, but WHOOPIEEE hotter is on the way!! How do I know? I am starting to see Fall and Halloween stuff in the stores. Get your butts on back to school, kids! The Holidays are coming and so are the products!

I saw this at the Dollar Tree this week. Sort of freaky, exotic and out there…

Even if it is pretend, I don’t think I want to create a look of spiders crawling out of my eyes!!! EEK!

L’oreal wants us to get nude. Nude makeup, that is…

I’m not a nude sort of (makeup) gal. I like color! But, there are some nice taupes and browns in these collections. I discovered these at Walgreens.

It took ALL of my willpower to not purchase these!!!….

I found these mini sets of Kleancolor polishes at Ross Dress For Less. It was only the vision of two boxes of unswatched polishes sitting in my office that kept me from buying these. I couldn’t seem to stop imagining a cute little knick-knack shelf to display the Kleancolor babies. The photos are fuzzing not only because I was using my phone camera but because I was truly quivering over finding these. My heart just skipped a couple of beats reliving this.

Now, this is something I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to go back and get…

These cuties I found at Claire’s. And these, below, I stumbled upon at Big Lots…

Which one do you like best? I like the middle one that is supposed to be a pumpkin!

Are you as ready as I am for some Fall stuff? I’m ready for just the hot temperature, or season, that is!!
