Maybelline’s Color Show: Polka Dots Collection

We used to purchase polishes that look like these from indy brands. However, thanks to trend-forward Maybelline, these are in stores for everyone…

polishes green eye 107 polishes green eye 113 polishes green eye 111Maybelline calls this the ‘Polka Dots’ collection. I really like these and, I think you might too…

polishes green eye 108This is ‘Blue Marks the Spot’. All of these are milky jellies. And, they are loaded with hexagon-shaped, multi-sized black and white glitter. This blue is just a wee bit darker than a standard pastel so it doesn’t look too baby-ish.

polishes green eye 109‘Pretty in Polka’ is a cute almost fuchsia pink shade. These are, essentially, the colors of Libby’s Pink Vanity so, I am in love. Of course!

polishes green eye 110‘Dotty’ is going to be THE Halloween manicure for me, this year. I love the uniqueness of this one.

Without any base polish, here are three polishes from the Maybelline Color Show ‘Polka Dots’ collection…

polishes green eye 114I did two coats for these polishes. Uber jellie, right? Whimsically and unique. Gotta love ’em, right?

If I HAD to pick a favorite, I’d go with ‘Dotty’. I don’t have anything at all like it. Which one do you like best?

Kleancolor: City Never Sleeps

Kleancolor polishes continue to amaze me with the glitter combinations they create. I was very surprised to find this one at the independent store, Red Lips, at the mall…

Lots of crazy stuff going on here! And what is showing up as teal in the photo is, actually in real life, more of a blueish teal shade…

Named ‘City Never Sleeps’, this polish is jammin’ gold and magenta hex glitter. Within a purple transparent base, I find the blueish teal glitter.

Even though ‘City Never Sleeps’ has a lot of glitter in it, I wanted to try it as a top coat rather than apply it on its own. I took a shimmery light green from Color Club and got this…

Kind of fancy shmancy! I liked how this one turned out…

It’s both frosty and glittery. I used two coat of the green from Color Club (some of their polishes don’t have labels on them and this just happens to be one of them), and two coats of ‘City Never Sleeps’. With a polish that has multiple glitter colors such as this, I will most likely be playing with ‘City Never Sleeps’ again, soon.

Have you seen this polish from Kleancolor in person? How do you like it?

Nabi: Dark Red Polish For A Halloween Bloody Nails Look

When I first saw this polish, I KNEW I was going to use it as a Halloween manicure! Just look!…

Nabi nailed it with ‘Dark Red’ as THE blood red. This bottle looks like it is filled with blood. Here’s what it looks like on my nails…

This is only one coat. I didn’t mean for it to look so terrible. It so looks like I got bloody nails. Ewwww…

As I was sitting at my table waiting for this coat to dry, I thought I’d see if I could lighten up the mood with this glitter…

‘Lilac Jumbo Glitter’ is also by Nabi and the name doesn’t lie. A translucent pale lavender jelly with hex, bar and micro iridescent glitter. Make that a LOT of glitter business going on. Adding that to ‘Dark Red’ got me this…

I put on 2 coats of ‘Lilac Jumbo Glitter’ over one coat of ‘Dark Red’. I didn’t need a top coat because that glitter laid down very smoothly and is so shiny. This look is a Bloody Birthday Celebration creation. LOL

This is what two coats of ‘Dark Red’ look like on the nail wheel, and then one with two coats of ‘Lilac Jumbo Glitter’…

It’s weird that on the nail wheel ‘Dark Red’ isn’t a blood red but more of a Christmas red.

And the removal was totally gory…

Eeeeee! I have clear soak-off gel on my nails and ‘Dark Red’ stained them bad. I was going to soak off the gel and reapply anyway but DANG!! This looks like I got my nails caught in a grinder!

In scrutinizing the gory photo, I see that my nail beds look rather healthy and that my free edge is really my own; no enhancements. I just had the clear bottom and top soak-off gel on them. And, thankfully, my nails grow fast. I wish the nick on my middle finger would heal as fast. But, with the nature of my work, I bump that area almost every day. Poor finger!!!

Nabi Cosmetics: Fun Glitter Top Coats

There is a store called ‘Rainbow’ in one of the malls that I visit clients. ‘Rainbow’ is what I would call a ‘hoochy’ store. They sell ‘hoochy’ clothes. Way sexy and way too tight. Even their XXL clothes wouldn’t fit my size 12 behind. But, I do venture in just to see what I can see. And this is what I did see…

These are just a few of the polishes I saw by Nabi. The name sounds familiar but I just don’t know why. I checked out their website but nothing struck a chord. The three polishes I picked were the most unusual and ones that I don’t have anything like in my stash. And the price was 3 for $5.

Here’s ‘Lilac Jumbo Glitter’…

All of these will be top coats, no doubt. And even though these seem to have separated in the bottle, I think I’ll still like them. Of course, that will be an upcoming post.

I couldn’t resist the hairy, micro and hex glitter! And since the glitter is iridescent, I think it will jazz up nails nicely. The large hex glitter looks to be strong gold and green iridescent shades. Should be fun to see what it will do.

This is ‘Purple Jumbo Glitter’…

Are you sort of seeing a name trend here? Well, when I saw these and then photographed them, I thought of all the franken-making polish makers out there. I don’t even know where to start with doing a franken, but I can’t help to think that these might play a part in it. ‘Purple Jumbo Glitter’ is a purple glitter bomb. I see fuchsia hex glitter and iridescent mico glitter. Yet I see that glitter that looks like embers too. This is one busy glitter! I think I’m going to have to play with it this weekend.

How about a black glitter?…

‘New Black Glitter’ has me worried. I don’t know how this is going to translate onto the nail. The black-ish base will not work with a lot of colors. Nope to pinks and any light shades. But it could kick up some smoky, dark cremes. With the fuchsia pink glitter, iridescent bar glitter and lots and lots of micro glitter that I can’t quite tell what color it is, this is a busy glitter polish.

The investment was small. They were too pretty to not add to my collection. But, uuuueeee-weeee! These STINK!!! There is not one thing ‘T3-Free’ about these polishes. Even if you are just mildly sensitive to smells, I’m going to advise you to skip these. That is, unless you have some sort of scuba gear to breathe with.

Have you seen these before? What do you think about the colors? Would you be game to spend a few dollars to try them out?
