NYX Cosmetics Luv Out Loud Limited Edition Liquid Lipsticks

NYX Cosmetics asked me if I would give my honest opinion on their newest liquid lipsticks: Luv Out Loud Collection. Being an avid lover of all things by NYX Cosmetics, I naturally said yes.

The Luv Out Loud Matte Liquid Lip Collection is a limited edition so I wanted to share these with you as soon as possible. Plus, Fall will be here as soon as possible. Don’t you agree?! My lips will be ready to showcase any Fall outfit with the Luv Out Loud liquid lippies.

The NYX Professional Makeup PR info asks: Are Passionate, Brave, Fearless, Confident, Extraordinary or Brilliant? …celebrating individuality, beauty and artistry for all! What do these words mean to you? Swipe on your favorite shade and take to social to tell us how you #luvoutloud.

From top to bottom:Brilliant, Confident, Fearless, Extraordinary, Passionate

I’m all those characteristics and then some! I just know you are too! I received 5 of the 6 limited edition NYX Cosmetics lippies. So, it’s a GO for all 5 of them. Look out Fall! Here come Matte Lips!

I have many matte liquid lipsticks and a bunch of them are by NYX Cosmetics. Without a doubt, the NYX Cosmetics liquid lipsticks are my favorite. I was pretty sure these limited edition matte ones were not going to be any different. I was SO right!

If you have sampled any matte liquid lipsticks, you know that they can be drying, sticky, crumbly and/or tacky. Brush all those concerns out of your mind because none of the Luv Out Loud liquid lippies are like this. Can you say: Velvety, smooth, moisturized! I tried the lippies out on well-scrubbed lips for a test run. I put on a silky soft lip balm after that. Then, the pressure was on for these NYX Cosmetic’s new-comers.

What transpired was nothing short of glam. You’ll want to head over to NYX Cosmetics and order these limited edition matte liquid lipsticks pronto. Here are the shades I tried out:

From top to bottom:Brilliant, Confident, Fearless, Extraordinary, Passionate

There was only one thing I wished these lippies did and that was no transfer. While the liquid lipstick stayed on my lips for a good 5 hours, there was transfer to my tea cup. I did find one thing interesting, though. After about 5 hours, even though the lipstick seemed to have faded, the color had stained my lips. And, that stayed on until I washed my face right before bedtime.

Heck, why wait til Fall? I’m wearing these beauts NOW!

When you get your NYX Cosmetics Luv Out Loud matte liquid lipsticks, take a selfie and post it across the Internet using #luvoutloud. Let the word know you are AWESOME!

Profusion 22 Color Fan Palette

If you have been a faithful reader, you know one of my favorite things are what I call ‘pleasant surprises’. It can be someone opening a door for me when my hands are full. It can be finding that my husband put all of his laundry in the hamper before laundry time. It’s just the times when you get a little more than you expected.

Now, these palettes gave me a huge pleasant surprise…

DSCF0013

I really set myself up for this, though. I saw these palettes and wanted them but didn’t truly look to see that it does say 22 shades. So, when I opened them up and saw this…

DSCF0025 DSCF0020

I had to sit down and just gawk! All gorgeous mattes.

I saw these on a display at my local grocery store, King Soopers. And, get this: these were $2.99 each! I know I have to go back and get the other sets. Take a look at this one, first…

DSCF0016

DSCF0019

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the chosen shades in each palette. And, without seeing the inner shadows, I just picked these randomly. So, on that concept, just randomly swatched shades…

DSCF0026 DSCF0027

DSCF0030

I didn’t do these over any primer. For the most part, the shadows seem fairly pigmented. Also, some did have more fallout than others. The black and the green, above, were very powdery. And, the white was very, very light.

I picked this next one because I did see a white shadow…

DSCF0018 DSCF0014

I also liked the idea that there was a gray as well as a black.

DSCF0021 DSCF0022

And, I like the rich burgundy shades. Oh, and these oranges have been more fun to play with for Halloween looks!…

DSCF0024

Although I didn’t swatch all the shadows here, I have been mixing and matching like crazy with my looks of the day. Can you blame me?

These palettes are by Profusion and they can be hit or miss as far as the quality. However, for a meager investment of $3 for a 22 shade palette, I’m very happy with what I got. None of the shadows seem to be dupes from one palette to the other; there’s just enough variance. And, that makes for great blending.

Were you pleasantly surprised by the shades of the unseen colors? Have you seen these in any stores?

I found the swabs that I used for swatching to be just as colorful…

Sinful Colors: Crystal Crushes Polish

Are you reading other nail/beauty blogs where the authors say they are not tired of textured nail polishes yet? I’m reading that a lot and I’m in those ranks. I still enjoy textures. This is one that I picked up prior to Christmas and I like it a LOT…

DSCF0060 DSCF0056‘Blue Persuasion’ is tricky though. If you were someone who didn’t read nail/beauty blogs (GASP!!! Say there are no such people!!), you might not be prepared for the awesome surprise awaiting you.

Look at the polish in the bottle. This is a collection called Crystal Crushes from Sinful Colors. Even though it is pretty…

DSCF0059 DSCF0057You are not going to be prepared for this look…

DSCF0063First, I want to talk about the vibrant blue shade. It’s a perfect blue. Right smack-dab in the middle blue tone. My husband is blue/green color blind and I feel sorry for him because this color eludes his eyes. Therefore, those of us not color-blind need to thank our lucky, twinkly blue stars we get to enjoy seeing this fabulous color.

Now, for the texture…

DSCF0054 DSCF0055Why, it’s almost as gritty as the background! Which, by the way, is the little rail fence on my front porch. Embedded in the blue are magenta sparkles and their role is to make that blue POP! Success!…

DSCF0053This ‘texture of textures’ by Sinful Colors came from Walgreens. There were other shades within this collection just as pretty; I just limited myself to one. However, after revisiting these photos, I think I may allow myself to purchase other shades if I find any on clearance.

Here’s the deal: If you love textures, you are going to love this one. I only wore it for one day so I can’t say how the wear is. (My own manicure look was awful since my nails were all broken to the quick and the cuticles looked like sticker bushes.) I put a top coat on a pinky and it ate it up. It didn’t soften the texture or make it shiny either. And, when I removed the polish, I got blue all over. It was messy. I used Zoya’s Remove+ which isn’t the strongest polish remover. I had to give my hands and cuticles several washings and STILL had to wait for some of the blue stain to fade from my super dry cuticles.

Did you delve into any of Sinful Color’s Crystal Crushes?

Too Dimensional? From L’Oreal’s Color Riche Gold Dust Textured Collection

Textures and glitter and matte, oh my!!! Take a look at my first polish color for 2014…

DSCF0239 DSCF0242 DSCF0252I’d rather clean my house with a tooth brush than go on a no-buy rule. However, I have many brave friends that are doing just that. What I can do is slow down and not buy ALL THE COLLECTION!!! This is my attempt at that and, a successful one at that! ‘Too Dimensional?’ is from L’Oreal’s Color Riche Gold Dust Textured Collection.

It’s just a busy lil’ polish, I tell ya…

DSCF0255 DSCF0246If you don’t like your polishes rough, you may or may not care for this one. However, I think it is practically smooth compared to most glitter polishes. This polish, even though it was on the thicker side, laid down flat and easily. It isn’t glass smooth but has the feeling of a very soft linen cloth.

I have on three coats. Two would have been just fine. I was just blogging and reading blogs and was putting on a third coat before I even realized it was #3…

DSCF0243

Quite a dazzler, in my opinion. I didn’t bother with a top coat as I love the matted look. As of today, I have had this polish on for 7 days. I have worked 3 of those and don’t have but the most microscopic wear. For $3.99, I picked this up at Rite Aid and I am getting my money’s worth.

Even though I didn’t apply this mani in 2014, it has carried me over into the New Year. Over the weekend, I will pick a new mani but, it hasn’t been hard at all wearing this one for over a week. I am not tired of it.

This shade is sort of blue. It’s sort of gray. It’s sort of purple too. And, it’s festive enough to not seem like a New Year’s Eve party leftover.

With all the dimensions that are going on with ‘Too Dimensional?’, what will they come up with next for 2014? I’m super curious! Have you heard anything?

Maybelline: Two Green Mattes With A Bit Of Pumpkin Hex Glitter Help

A road trip to Rite Aid was called for. I was hoping to find more than I came away with, unfortunately. In fact, only one item I got was intended. When I found these two polishes, instead, I thought all really wasn’t a waste. Maybelline is rockin’ some fun polishes, lately…

swatches nails and makeup 184 swatches nails and makeup 185Two murky olives; one lighter than the other. Even though I like the shades, I was curious about the glitter pieces in them. Or, maybe they are shards of glitter. I really couldn’t tell until I got these in strong sunlight…

swatches nails and makeup 186Microscopic view of ‘Aged Olive’… swatches nails and makeup 190 Beyond personal space with ‘Sage Staple’…swatches nails and makeup 188I’m going to go with shards since they don’t have a defined, consistent shape. Yet, here’s the disappointment…

swatches nails and makeup 183 swatches nails and makeup 182They look sort of like an alien terrain on the nail. Or, maybe I dusted while I waited for my nails to dry. (You may be laughing very loudly at that!) I love the matte shades. It’s the lack of shard-show that is the disappointment.

Now, the reason for the Rite Aid trip was to get some of the pumpkin polishes. There was only one that appealed to me or, I already had the others. But, I’m happy with this disco-ball of polish…

swatches nails and makeup 194 swatches nails and makeup 197Not just circle glitter but, tiny hex glitter. I wouldn’t consider this a Halloween glitter and that is quite OK. It will work all year long. It also jazzed up the murky Maybelline greens…

swatches nails and makeup 178 swatches nails and makeup 180Hex Pumpkin will be fun to experiment with and, don’t leave me out on the dance floor but, I know I might have something already like it. Luckily, it was less than a couple of bucks. $2 for some kicks. That’s cheaper than one Starbuck’s fix for me.

Do you like Maybelline’s ‘Ageless Olive’ and ‘Sage Staple’? What do you think about glitters in dark matte shades?

Julie G: Matte Sparkle Collection From Groupon

Have you purchased anything from Groupon? I scour their daily newsletter for something that is a good buy or, for something I have wanted to try out. I don’t think there is one thing I have purchased that I have ever been disappointed in either. Getting this set of JulieG polishes did not disappoint…

nail swatches 004In a sea of pastels during Spring and Summer, it is a welcome change to have bright colors. These are right up my alley too.

Let’s start…

nail swatches 006nail swatches 020 nail swatches 008‘Tangerine Dream’ looks a super yummy icee drink. The glitter in this is fiery.

There’s a little tip noted on each bottle…

nail swatches 007Now another fiery shade…

nail swatches 010 nail swatches 011 nail swatches 019‘Sugar Rush’ looks like molten lava. I’m crazy on this one too.

nail swatches 012 nail swatches 013 nail swatches 021‘Hot Cinnamon’ rocks out a glittery red that is sure to win over any red nail polish lover. Like me.

nail swatches 022 nail swatches 015 nail swatches 014‘Rock Candy’ is probably the least dimensional of the set. It’s still pretty but not as outstanding as its mates.

nail swatches 017 nail swatches 018 nail swatches 016‘Crushed Candy’ is another one, like ‘Rock Candy’ that doesn’t have the umph that the oranges and red have. Still pretty and, they both look much better on the nail than in the bottle.

The entire collection is a winner. It was fun to wear these when there were so many pastels around. Not being so much of a pastel polish wearer, it is nice that Julie G’s brand contributed a different twist of fun summer colors this year. I used two medium, thick coats to achieve this look…

nail swatches 024 nail swatches 025 nail swatches 028Oh, and I tried it, then, with a shiny top coat, just for kicks…

nail swatches 034The tip was a good idea. A top coat doesn’t add a thing to these sparklers.

The last thing I purchased from Groupon was a set of sheets. They are chocolate colored with a faint embossing of leaves. They are gorgeous and soft. I have never had dark colored sheets before so spending $30 for them worked out perfectly. What have you bought from Groupon?

Two Blues And The Blues Over Cosmetic Arts Polish

The folks that bring us Color Club, Forsythe Cosmetic Group, also produce Cosmetic Arts. The only place that I have ever found Cosmetic Arts is at Ross Dress For Less stores. Occasionally, I’ll find Cosmetic Arts polishes in a card stock display. Sometimes I just find the bottles loose on the shelves. These two blues are my most recent acquirements…

These two polishes were not found in a display. And, if they had been in a display, I would have found that these two are actually matte finish polishes…

After I discovered that they were mattes, I wanted to experiment with some looks. The turquoise shade is not a favorite, or even a like, of mine. So, I wanted to find something I did like about it. The blue was OK matte and with a shiny top coat. I was OK either way.

So, here is were I played: I painted each color on two different nails on the nail wheel. For a third look, I painted a nail with Cult Nail’s ‘Nevermore’, which is the best one-coat black polish out there.

This is the looks I got with the blue…

First nail is two coats without any top or bottom coat. Then, the middle nail is with 2 coats of color and one top coat from Color Club. The far right one is with one bottom coat of ‘Nevermore’ and one coat of said blue shade polish. (None of the Cosmetic Arts polishes are named or numbered.) The blue over the black didn’t really do anything other than give the black a matte finish.

I did the same with the turquoise shade…

I didn’t care for the turquoise over the black at all. Look at that blech! But, I like it with the shiny top coat, in the middle.

Even though I didn’t truly get the looks I wanted with using ‘Nevermore’ as a base coat, I also couldn’t find any uniqueness about these two blues to warrant any oohs and aahs.

How about you? Do any of these nails keep you from feeling blue?
