Facial Wipe Wednesday: Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Brightening Cloths

Ole Henriksen facial wipes have been recommended to me several times. After using ‘The Clean Truth’ Cleansing Cloths for Brightening, I see why!…

DSCF0016

I chose the Brightening because it lists CoQ10 as one of the ingredients and, I know it is a very powerful anti-aging enzyme. It was also nice to see a total count of 30 in the packaging too…

DSCF0017

I have mentioned in other Facial Wipe Wednesday posts that many companies (and not just with facial wipes) have cut back on 30 counts. Ole Henriksen is a higher-end skin care company so I’m pleased to see that they haven’t skipped. Also, I like the opening of their package. A plastic snap top keeps the cloths from drying out, in my opinion. I found these wipes to have just the right amount of moisture in them to get the job done and that is, a clean face with all my makeup removed.

The Clean Truth wipes contain┬áblack currant oil which is meant to help moisturize the skin. I noticed this the second night I used these cloths. My skin didn’t feel like I needed to hurry to put my nighttime moisturizer on. Absent was that tight feeling I get after washing my face. Next, and the most remarkable thing about the wipes is the Vitamin C…

DSCF0019

You know what orange zest smells like, right? That citrus fragrance that is unmistakably ORANGE….that is what these facial cloths smell like…10 fold. Now, I LOVE the smell of oranges so, if you don’t, you might want to pick one of Ole Henriksen’s other facial wipes. If you need to wake up or feel instantly refreshed, I completely recommend using these. I think I’ll tuck a pack of these in my workout bag because these would be ideal to use right after a hard workout. In all seriousness, I looked forward to using these just for the aromatic fragrance alone. That they do a grand job at removing my makeup was a distant second!

And, as you can see, there are lots of other healthy ingredients listed…

DSCF0018

The Clean Truth wipes are a standard size…

DSCF0020

And, the cloth is textured, which I feel helps hold onto the dirt and makeup so it doesn’t end up smeared all over my face…

DSCF0021

I purchased my Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Brightening wipes at Sephora. There is a complete line of The Clean Truth and I am now looking forward to trying some of them to see if they have the same intensely awesome orange fragrance. The 30 count wipes I purchased cost $15.

If you have tried any of the other products from The Clean Truth line, which do you recommend I try next?

Straight From Etsy, I Love Nail Polish Holiday Polishes

Can I give you a couple of reasons why I love I LOVE NAIL POLISH brand? First, the combinations of holos and glitters are like nothing I see anywhere else. Also, I can order smaller bottles, which are less expensive, allowing me to purchase a larger variety.

Let me show you a couple of my recent purchases that will insure I’m ready for the holidays…

swatches nails and makeup 041 swatches nails and makeup 044Seriously. ‘Pumpkinhead‘. Nothing will scream Halloween better than this glitter screamfest. I haven’t had any polishes that made me want to stare at them in quite some time. It’s a whole paragraph just to tell you that there is square and different size of hex glitter in this. The green, copper and orange colors are in the right ratio for Fall.

swatches nails and makeup 037 swatches nails and makeup 040“Christmas In Bordeaux’ is the Norman Rockwell for the fingernails. Right? Every single glitter color is Christmas! Square, shard, dot and hex glitters abound. Gold, red and green colors will deck your nails for Yule. (Shhh…beat Santa to the punch. Order the full size of this one at ILNP.com because it’s on clearance!)

No need to pontificate, see for yourself!…

swatches nails and makeup 060swatches nails and makeup 058‘Pumpkinhead’ makes me ready for hayrides and caramel apples…swatches nails and makeup 067“Christmas in Bordeaux’ will get you in the mood to hang tinsel and string popcorn for the tree…

swatches nails and makeup 066swatches nails and makeup 056I don’t mean to rush the Holidays, but you can get your I Love Nail Polishes at their Etsy store. The minis are $3.75 each and I got my order in less than 5 days.

swatches nails and makeup 035 swatches nails and makeup 036I do need some help, however. What color of polish would you recommend as a base color for these Holiday smack-you-in-the-face glitters? Do you have your Holiday nail manicures selected?

Rue 21: Just A Bit Of Retail Left Over From Orlando To Colorado

There is an outlet mall in the town I live in. It is quite nice but doesn’t really hold a candle to the malls I was used to in Orlando. I still get a hook-up with Adidas, Bath & Body Works, Coach and Claire’s here, so it was a pleasant surprise to find a Rue 21 store as well. I had to stop in. Well, not really had to. I had a 25% off everything coupon! Nail polish is the only thing I landed on…

polishes green eye 080 polishes green eye 073polishes green eye 079These Rue 21 polishes love the sunlight!

polishes green eye 082polishes green eye 078 polishes green eye 077polishes green eye 085With no names, it’s difficult to tell you which one is which. So, there are two top coats that have iridescent bar glitter. One is a transparent milky white, the other is transparent milky pink. Then I got a pink shimmery polish to coordinate with the pink bar glitter. The orange shimmery glitter rocks with the white bar glitter. Easy….right???

polishes green eye 090This makes it a littler easier to follow. Starting from the bottom, I have the pink glitter alone, followed by the pink shimmer. Then, I used the pink bar glitter over the pink shimmer. Above that, I just repeated the same sequence with the orange.

polishes green eye 099 polishes green eye 092polishes green eye 089 polishes green eye 103The shimmer polishes have a semi-matte look and I find that to be very chic. The bar glitter over it makes it whimsical and fun. The bar glitter over the pink shimmer looks gloppy and that is due to my application; not the polish. I used three coats and only very close up can you see the brush stroke lines.

And, when I was ready to wrap up my sale, the sales person asked me if I would like a bottle of their newest perfume called ‘Fallen Vixen’ for just $6. After a whiff, I said add it to the basket!

polishes green eye 106If you like ‘Flowerbomb’ by Viktor & Rolf’ you might like this fragrance. Since it is a cheapy perfume, I have to spritz often to keep the fragrance around. Are you like me and love the ritual of applying perfume? Then, you won’t mind needed to spritz often to keep the fragrance going.

How do you feel about the trend of semi-matte polishes? Are you a pushover for those little add-on sales?

Believe The Hype: 24 Hour Color Tattoos by Maybelline

Have you ever been reluctant to try something, then get the opportunity to do so, find you love it and kick yourself for waiting? That’s my story on Maybelline’s Color Tattoos. Sure I was reading all the raves about them on other beauty blogs. Yet, my previous experience with L’Oreal’s Infallibles turned me off on these so-called long-lasting cream shadows. The Infallibles failed and creased before I even finished my makeup.

However, I got a chance to try a couple of the Color Tattoos out. The 24 Hour Color Tattoos run roughly $5 to $7. So, I knew I had a steal when I found a pot for $1.78 at Target…

polishes green eye 124 polishes green eye 125Even though it was a matte orange, I figured that it was a very cheap investment to find out just how great these Color Tattoo pots were. But, for good measure, I picked out a metal-colored one too.

First, this is ‘Fierce and Tangy’…

polishes green eye 126 polishes green eye 130 polishes green eye 132The metal shade I chose is ‘Inked In Pink’…

polishes green eye 129 polishes green eye 127 polishes green eye 131The reason I picked a pink was in the hopes that the posts I read about these was true; they last and last. I figured that pink would make a great colored primer if it did just that.

I liked what I saw when I swatched…

polishes green eye 138 polishes green eye 137 polishes green eye 134After allowing the creams to set on my arm, I did a finger rub and they did not budge. I was eager to try out ‘Fierce and Tangy’. I wore a solid orange top that day and I got a couple of compliments on how cool my shadows looked. IOne person even asked me if I did my own makeup. I took that as she couldn’t believe I could have done so well. Shrug.

Did they live up to the hype? Affirmative. And with flying, stay in place, colors. You may not believe it, so I’ll do another post on the 9 more I have accumulated since these two. Talk about hanging around on the eyelid!!!

The texture is a bit dry yet, you can work with it before it sets. I used my finger to apply it. Later on with a matte taupe I purchased, I tried a stiff makeup brush but that didn’t work so well. It clumped up. But, one thing you can do is layer this product. After applying one, let it set. Repeat.

Have you tried any of the Maybelline Color Tattoos? What one is your favorite color?

Maybelline’s Color Show: Polka Dots Collection

We used to purchase polishes that look like these from indy brands. However, thanks to trend-forward Maybelline, these are in stores for everyone…

polishes green eye 107 polishes green eye 113 polishes green eye 111Maybelline calls this the ‘Polka Dots’ collection. I really like these and, I think you might too…

polishes green eye 108This is ‘Blue Marks the Spot’. All of these are milky jellies. And, they are loaded with hexagon-shaped, multi-sized black and white glitter. This blue is just a wee bit darker than a standard pastel so it doesn’t look too baby-ish.

polishes green eye 109‘Pretty in Polka’ is a cute almost fuchsia pink shade. These are, essentially, the colors of Libby’s Pink Vanity so, I am in love. Of course!

polishes green eye 110‘Dotty’ is going to be THE Halloween manicure for me, this year. I love the uniqueness of this one.

Without any base polish, here are three polishes from the Maybelline Color Show ‘Polka Dots’ collection…

polishes green eye 114I did two coats for these polishes. Uber jellie, right? Whimsically and unique. Gotta love ’em, right?

If I HAD to pick a favorite, I’d go with ‘Dotty’. I don’t have anything at all like it. Which one do you like best?

Julie G: Matte Sparkle Collection From Groupon

Have you purchased anything from Groupon? I scour their daily newsletter for something that is a good buy or, for something I have wanted to try out. I don’t think there is one thing I have purchased that I have ever been disappointed in either. Getting this set of JulieG polishes did not disappoint…

nail swatches 004In a sea of pastels during Spring and Summer, it is a welcome change to have bright colors. These are right up my alley too.

Let’s start…

nail swatches 006nail swatches 020 nail swatches 008‘Tangerine Dream’ looks a super yummy icee drink. The glitter in this is fiery.

There’s a little tip noted on each bottle…

nail swatches 007Now another fiery shade…

nail swatches 010 nail swatches 011 nail swatches 019‘Sugar Rush’ looks like molten lava. I’m crazy on this one too.

nail swatches 012 nail swatches 013 nail swatches 021‘Hot Cinnamon’ rocks out a glittery red that is sure to win over any red nail polish lover. Like me.

nail swatches 022 nail swatches 015 nail swatches 014‘Rock Candy’ is probably the least dimensional of the set. It’s still pretty but not as outstanding as its mates.

nail swatches 017 nail swatches 018 nail swatches 016‘Crushed Candy’ is another one, like ‘Rock Candy’ that doesn’t have the umph that the oranges and red have. Still pretty and, they both look much better on the nail than in the bottle.

The entire collection is a winner. It was fun to wear these when there were so many pastels around. Not being so much of a pastel polish wearer, it is nice that Julie G’s brand contributed a different twist of fun summer colors this year. I used two medium, thick coats to achieve this look…

nail swatches 024 nail swatches 025 nail swatches 028Oh, and I tried it, then, with a shiny top coat, just for kicks…

nail swatches 034The tip was a good idea. A top coat doesn’t add a thing to these sparklers.

The last thing I purchased from Groupon was a set of sheets. They are chocolate colored with a faint embossing of leaves. They are gorgeous and soft. I have never had dark colored sheets before so spending $30 for them worked out perfectly. What have you bought from Groupon?

Newest Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Collection 2013

The colors for both nail polishes and eye shadows have been so appealing this summer. I don’t think I have been this pleased with summer shades. When I saw the new Sally Hansen LE polish collection, I have to admit, it was the ‘LE’ that reeled me in. I managed to pick just 3…

Cult Nail’s Mid-Summer Collection: Road Trip, Anyone?

Cult Nails is a company that I eagerly await what their next collection will be. The ‘Road Trip, Anyone‘ collection doesn’t disappoint.

Maria has worked for a very long time to get the perfect materials to create a holographic polish. Getting the best ingredients is a part of Maria’s high standards for quality. In this collection is ‘Mayham’, a holographic topcoat that has no rival.

There are the polishes…

cult nails road trip collection 003 cult nails road trip collection 004‘All Out’ is a shade that makes me a believer that yellow polishes CAN rock! And, talk about rock, I have seen on other beauty blogs where ‘All Out’ is used over ‘Be Loco’ and you really have to brace yourself for the all-out stunner look this becomes.

Here’s ‘Mayhem’ over a bare nail…

cult nails road trip collection 019When I hear the word ‘Mayhem’ it makes me think of the All State Commercials. Cameras are Mayhem when trying to capture holographic polishes. They end up looking like just a glittery polish. But, if you are a true nail-esta, you know how much the camera is lying to you!!!

Naturally, I wouldn’t lie to you. ‘Mayhem’ is DA BOMB! And the rest of the collection is just what you need to fashion your nails on out for the rest of the summer.

This collection was purchased by me and these are my own, personal opinions.

Is Halloween Getting Rust-y? Try Forever 21’s Version

Oli Oli In Come Freeeeee!

Only one more day left to call out Halloween polishes. After that, I’m doing ‘Fall’ manicure swatches. OK, maybe they could be Halloween ones still. And, just because I didn’t get in all the Halloween looks I wanted to, doesn’t mean I can’t morph them into Thanksgiving/Fall swatches. I’m getting into this ‘my blog, my rules’ thing. Bwaahaaahaaa!

This polish definitely fits into both categories…

‘Rust’ is a copper glitter overload from Forever 21’s love and beauty. And one thing about Forever 21 polish, most of the glitters are dense and easy to use. This one makes coverage by using a lot of different sizes of glitter. Look close…

Hex, micro and regular sizes galore. And these babies didn’t have any issue laying down on the nail.

I swatched up some orange and black fun…

Starting from the left: Forever 21’s ‘Rust’ over Cult Nails’ ‘Nevermore’; ‘Rust’ all by itself; ‘Rust’ over Zoya’s ‘Arizona’; Pure Icing’s black crackle over Zoya’s ‘Arizona’; ‘Arizona’ all by itself; and last is Cult Nails’ ‘Nevermore’ all by itself.

I really liked how ‘Rust’ seemed to be glowing orange embers with ‘Nevermore’. I did a manicure with it and it was definitely THE Halloween look…

How’s that for some fire on the fingertips? ‘Rust’ wasn’t terribly hard to remove. Since ‘Nevermore’ is a one-coat polish (love that!!!) and I only used one coat of ‘Rust’, this was a quickie.

Are you finished with Halloween looks and ready to move one? I feel I am.
