Forever 21: Green and Brown Powder Palette

I can’t get enough of the Forever 21 splatter palettes. How about you? This is a very Fall-appealing palette…

polishes green eye 057Did I mention in the previous post on the purple palette that these only cost $4.80? In my books, very well worth it…

polishes green eye 058polishes green eye 059polishes green eye 025All but the white shadow are shimmery. The white has a sheen to it, though. All are fairly well-pigmented and build to a bold color when used with a shadow primer. These swatches, however, don’t have any primer going on. They are all swatched in the order on the palette…

polishes green eye 066 The sparkly-est!polishes green eye 071If you like neutral shades in gold, green, bronze and brown, you will love the combos you can create with this Forever 21 palette. It really goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway…I love mixing the purple and the browns together. The combos are endless.

Have you seen this palette at Forever 21? Which one do you like more…the purple/grey one or, this green/brown?

Forever 21: Pink and Grey Powder Palette

It was a real surprise to find out that my review on a couple of cream eyeshadow palettes from Forever 21 was one of my most popular blog posts. It was cool that may others felt the same way I did about how beautiful they were.

I’m not expecting to repeat it with these powder shadows from Forever 21 however, I still think they are neat to look at and work pretty darn good on the eye…

polishes green eye 014 polishes green eye 015Yes. There are two palettes. However, I’m going to show you the pink/grey one in this review. Then the green one later. I just have way too many cool photos to show.

Not all of the shadows have a batik look to them…

polishes green eye 049 polishes green eye 017Just the square-shaped pans are multi-colored. As with many, if not all, of the shadows I have from Forever 21, these are buttery soft, have some fall-out, yet have great color pigmentation…

polishes green eye 020 polishes green eye 019 polishes green eye 030 polishes green eye 029There’s a bit of golden over-spray. I know you’re not fooled by that anymore. It just appeals to the magpie in us for shiny things. However, the swatches are divine, regardless. I swatched these in the same order they are in the palette, starting from the top row, going to the right…

polishes green eye 053 polishes green eye 055 polishes green eye 056Take a look at the bottom row, first shade on the left. What??? It looks super-duper dark grey/blakc in the palette so, it’s odd that it swatches as a golden brown. Don’t think I’m complaining! I love the swatched shade! And the two on the right end; yummy for the brow bone.

I used a Q-tip to swatch these. I have found when I use a brush, I don’t get a good, saturated swatch. Just by experimenting, I found that a swab grabs the powder and transfers to my arm better. And, these swatches, as with all my others in the blog, are not done over any primers.

Can you imagine how many looks you can get from this palette? Soft pink to a smoldering smoky eye. I did spend quite a few days playing with this Forever 21 palette…

polishes green eye 051You haven’t tried Forever 21 makeup yet? Why not? You should!

Wet ‘N Wild’s Pop Art Craze Collection Summer 2013

When I found these, I felt like I had won a lottery!!…

new WnW 002I swung by a Walgreens, just on a lark, and find ’em. All of them! I will show them each individually and close up…like you have them right in your hands…

new WnW 004 new WnW 005 new WnW 006 new WnW 008 new WnW 009 new WnW 010I don’t even have a favorite; they are all cool combos. However, this is the first one I tried: ‘A Regular At The Factory’…

new WnW 019new WnW 022#2 wnw eotd new WnW 060I wore a super bright orange tech shirt that went well with the orange shade.

Today, this is the palette, ‘Three’s A Party’, I went with…

new WnW 023 new WnW 024 bad eye photos 008So, it was the end of the day and I had too much creasing to do a closed lid photo. But, I can tell you that the black matte shade is awesome for a smoky eye.

Here are the others begging me to try them next…

new WnW 041 new WnW 044 ‘Hard Being The It Girl’new WnW 035 new WnW 037 ‘To Muse And Carouse’new WnW 028 new WnW 030‘I’m Seeing Triples’

new WnW 013‘Your 15 Minutes Isn’t Up’. Well, it must have been, because I didn’t take a photo of this palette by itself.

I wish the companies would just forgo these worthless pieces…

new WnW 011Well, maybe just the brush. Two sponge applicators would be OK.

Here’s what I discovered about these new Limited Editions…I like them. I like that they are fresh combos. There are several that are very creamy. And, you may notice that the peachy shade of ‘To Muse And Carouse’ is very, very faint. That is perfect for keeping the tone down. I used a swab to swatch some of these, the sponge applicator for others. I didn’t use any brushes. You’ll notice that there is some fallout. I left it on my swatches so you can see which ones did that for me.

I can make these as subtle or as bold as I want. Save for the peachy shade I mentioned above, they are all totally buildable. It is fun to have ‘fun’ shades. However, this summer has been full of fun shades. More so than I can remember in past summers.

Which ones do you like? Will you get a of them since they are a limited collection?

Anastasia Beverly Hills: Bold And Beautiful Kit

Well, hello there! Not one to do things in a small way, I have moved from Florida to Denver. Can you say ‘change in climate’? Can you say ‘skin changes!?’ More to come on that experience.

Anastasia Beverly Hills has been giving us a lot of new products. How about that Hypercolor Brow and Hair Powder?!!! I’ll be doing a review on that fun product very soon.

But today, I have a classy kit from Anastasia to show you called Bold and Beautiful. If you like neutral shades yet enjoy the flexibility of going from a soft look on up to something bold, you are going to love this eyeshadow palette. And, if you are looking to create a chic brow, Anastasia has that covered too.

anastasia kit 020 anastasia kit 021 The brow palette is simple but Anastasia, as the leading authority of brows, keeps it easy to groom them…

anastasia kit 030The first color is a waxy brown with a powder color next to it. And the precision tweezers, along with the dual-end brow brush and separator, mean you don’t have to go out with unruly brows.

Even though the two shades in the palette look different, they swatch very similar…

anastasia kit 094I used both on my brows and the color works perfectly for me…

anastasia kit 107The shadow palette is just as sleek and streamlined as the brow palette. These shades easily mix and match…

anastasia kit 072 anastasia kit 051 anastasia kit 047 anastasia kit 048These shades are powdery smooth. I used the provided brush, which does have two different types of bristles on each end. The palette got a bit of fall out when I loaded my brush but ,I didn’t get any on my face when I applied it.

Here are swatches of the eye shadows…

anastasia kit 084I used a light touch to swatch but, as you can imagine, these shades can build to make a stronger, bolder look. I kept it simple and neutral using them all…

anastasia kit 110Next, I finished the look with an Ulta brown eyeliner pencil and Milani’s Runway Lashes mascara…

anastasia kit 112 anastasia kit 118 anastasia kit 114In comparison to other high-end palettes, Anastasia Beverly Hills keeps her prices reasonable…

anastasia kit 037For $36, the Bold and Beautiful Kit gives you a large variety of looks for an affordable price. This is the type of product I like to use when I need to have a neutral look, whether I’m meeting a client or just running errands for the day. Both palettes are not complicated yet, give me the tools necessary to make a bold and beautiful look.

Forever 21: A New Nude Palette

Even a ‘no-buy’ limitation on myself doesn’t stop me from wanting ALL THE EYESHADOW PALETTES!!! I had to yell because, well, it’s seriously true.

Two things go into breaking this rule: 1) The price is soooo good, 2) experience has shown that this brand was good in the past, and 3) no will power. OK, that’s three so, let’s not count that last one, shall we?

Here’s a new Forever 21 eyeshadow palette…

nail swatches Gosh 026 nail swatches Gosh 029 And, it is a NUDE palette to boot! Why, every makeup blogger knows you have to have at least one nude shadow palette on the vanity. I want to make totally sure that I’m covered. I mean, what would happen if I would accidentally drop one? Or, someone would break into my house and raid the vanity! Gasp!!! Maybe I’d misplace one and be frantic until I found the backup. (Not that any of these, save for dropping one, are remotely going to happen. But, you never know…)

What a heavenly lineup…

nail swatches Gosh 036 nail swatches Gosh 034 nail swatches Gosh 033The sunlight washes a few of these shades out. So, none of the shades are identical. But, they all compliment each other.

The Forever 21 store that I found this at had not been gentle with these palettes and, even some other styles, as well. It was my duty to provide a warm and loving home/vanity to a special palette. Actually, this one was the one with the least broken shadows…

nail swatches Gosh 032It didn’t hurt to ask the sales associate if I could get a discount because it was blemished and all the other ones were much more damaged. At first I was told a 10% discount. I said that it would be better if it was 25%. The store manager was brought in and she said that 15% was the highest she could go. Well, the palette was only $5.80, so I agreed.

And, I still got some great photos that I can use in future business cards…

nail swatches Gosh 031Oh, and this isn’t the last you’ll see of this palette. There is a bit more to the story, along with some swatches, coming up very, very soon!

Do you have a favorite nude palette?

Khroma Beauty: It’s Just More Kardashian Hype

It’s rare that I dislike a makeup so much that I will return it. However, when I figured in the price, it was easy to return this one.

nail swatches Gosh 037nail swatches Gosh 038nail swatches Gosh 039I do like the faux-croc packaging. But I got this for the makeup.

It was my intention to try review this ‘Kard-ass-enin’ shit to make a fair judgement. And, I am doing just that. These are my own opinions and experiences. Your MMD (mileage may differ). I’m happy with shopping at Ulta because I was able to get store credit and make another purchase.

Most of these shades are pigmented, yes. However, when I applied them, once without a primer and then with Two Face Shadow Insurance, I got a chalky mess…

nail swatches Gosh 042nail swatches Gosh 048I found that the off white, the lightest grey and the medium grey shades didn’t transfer to my lids well at all. Of the six shades I used, it was mostly the black matte that made a mess of my look…

nail swatches Gosh 041The blush was OK, but it barely lasted for four hours.  I used the highlighter, which had good pigment, on my brow bone. Even the bronzer was a light enough shade that it worked well as a contour shade; it just didn’t stay all day. So, it wasn’t ALL crappy.

nail swatches Gosh 049I did some swatches…

nail swatches Gosh 053 nail swatches Gosh 051This is a new line and I lost all sense of sanity when I bought this pallete. This one was the only one left and that’s a sell, right there. But luckily, I had the common sense to return this one.

And, to show you my FOTD using Kim’s Kardazzle palette, this is what it looked like right after applying it…

NOTD EOTD 016 NOTD EOTD 014I used Two Faced Shadow Insurance and a taupe shadow from Forever 21 as a base.

This is what I looked like when I came home from work, 4-1/2 hours later…

NOTD EOTD 022 NOTD EOTD 021 NOTD EOTD 019The price of Khroma Beauty cosmetics is higher than most drugstore makeup. I would expect it to be of a better quality. Thus, I returned it because I was not satisfied.

For some reason, the www.khromabeauty.com website is only shown as ‘coming soon’.

If you bought this, did you have a different experience?

Time To Start Looking Up At Walgreen’s; Holiday Stuff Spotted

I know Christmas is near when I see beauty products lining the very top shelves at Walgreens…

Looks like Sally Hansen is coming out with a nail sticker that is gel-like in the fact that you use a little LED light, sold separately, to have the sticker adhere to the nail.

A few Walgreens, I have found, already have some of the Winter Holiday beauty products out on endcaps…

These shadow palettes are in three different collections. It’s cool that the color of these are ‘winky eyes’…

Very difficult to capture in a photo. And, sort of creepy, too!

And these will remind you of a very famous, and obviously duplicated, naked-colored palette…

It seems that prices haven’t changed too much from last year on these no-name brands. However, it does seem like they are working hard to duplicate what is found, and popular, at the higher-end makeup counters.

I even spied some more Revlon’s Moon Candy polishes…

I’m sure the nail stickers and regular polishes could have been new too. I just honed in on the Moon Candy collection as I am ‘star-struck’ over them. I got two new ones to add to my collection: Meteor and Eclipse. Those lovelies will be swatched and showing up soon.

Besides the Sally Hansen gel stickers, I haven’t seen any name brand products on the high shelves yet. Have you been checking your high shelves at Walgreens yet? What are you seeing?

Maleficent: elf Limited Edition Disney Villain Palette

Before I had a chance to dig in and do a thorough review, I mentioned I purchased the Limited Edition elf Disney Villain Palettes here. I reviewed Cruella’s Palette, first, here. The Evil Queen, my favorite of all three, I reviewed here.

Now, for the last of the three, Maleficent: Sinister Smoky Eyes…

Of all the villains in this collection, Maleficent has the best look. Change out her garb and she looks quite benign, actually. Sultry, not evil.

The false eyelashes are bold…

The Day Evil shades…

Spindle; Sceptre; Fog of Doom; Fauna.  ‘Spindle’ has a sheen to it. But, ‘Fauna’ is your matte in this group.

Have I sufficiently convinced you that I’m mad about these lip and cheek pencils?…

The Night Villain shadows are truly smoky…

Misfortune; Forest of Thorns; Deep Sleep; Diablo. Diablo is actually a very matte charcoal soot color.

The eyeliner, while glittery and pretty, just doesn’t translate well, sadly…

I would use this over another eyeliner. And even then, I don’t think it would show much sparkle.

And, the pencil doesn’t disappoint…

Enjoy some swatches…

If you are inclined, you can use the mirror that is in the book…

Each book has a day/night look tutorial and they are so doable. You can view them on my post here. This collection is a Limited Edition, so you may not want to sit on the fence too long deciding if you want them or not. For $10 each, I think they are better than the price tag. I hope elf will do something similar to this again.

Did you find your palettes at Walgreens? It is my  understanding that is the only place you will be able to find these.

Evil Queen: elf Limited Edition Disney Villain Palette

elf has very recently released a set of 3 Disney female villains makeup palettes. This is a limited edition that I could NOT miss out on. This post is the second of three and it is showcasing the Evil Queen. You can read the first review on Cruella by clicking here. I posted here the different looks presented as tutorials in each palette.

The Evil Queen: Devious Dramatic Eyes is my favorite palette of the three…

I would never have guessed that the Evil Queen would have such luscious lashes…

These are the Day Evil eye shadows…

One Bite; Vanity; Narcissistic; Potion. ‘Vanity’ is the matte in this foursome.

The pencil that is for lips AND cheeks is a secret delight from these sets…

And here they are all carefully swatched on my wrist…

‘Vanity’ is practically the color of my flesh. ‘Potion’ is a bit crumbly and will give some fallout.

As with Cruella’s palette, the eyeliner brush is terrible and the top to the tube doesn’t seem to be properly flush, but I do like the liner itself…

These shades are for the Night Villain look…

Fairest of the Land; Majesty; Peddler’s Cloak; Poison Apple. ‘Poison Apple’ is the matte this time. The others are shimmery.  And, ‘Fairest of the Land’ has that icy/purpley/blue shift in it. A little touch of that on the center of the lips will lure in your Prince Charming!!!

The pencil for the night look is just as stunning…

Swatchy, swatchy…

‘Majesty’, the purple, is blotchy, but again, I am using just a swab to swipe the colors. A good makeup brush would make all the difference. You can see, just a bit, of ‘Fairest of the Land’ color shift. And even ‘Poison Apple’ is actually more black than the photo displays. The second photo I had to add to highlight the pencil color. It’s apple red, isn’t it?

Kayla has no problems dropping by my makeshift studio…

I love these darker, more dramatic colors. They suit the Evil Queen’s look. And if she wasn’t such a murderess, she could be a Beautiful Queen. I know her palette will play quite nicely with the other two in this collection.

Do you like the darker shadows best?

Cruella: elf Limited Edition Disney Villain Palette

Today was a fun day. I swatched and played with my new elf Disney Villains palettes. These are limited editions so, if you want them, I think you better high-tail it to Walgreens before they are gone.

Each of the three palettes are getting their own post and review from me. That way, I don’t have one HUGE post and I can share more details from each.

I did an EOTD with the Cruella: Evil Everyday Eyes palette, so I’ll start with her…

My gosh! These lashes are beautiful. I look forward to trying them on. They are fuller than what I normally use so, it will be fun to try a new style.

The top 4 shadows are for the Day Evil look…

Puppy Love; Coat of Dreams; Cruelty; Sewage. For those that love neutral colors, this palette will make you happy. Cruelty is a very gorgeous, mossy green. These are the shadows I’ll show at the end for an EOTD look.

This is the first pencil and it can be used for lips and cheeks, as with all the pencils…

I’m floored with how creamy these pencils are. I bet I’m going to wish they were not so stubby in size.

Swatched out…

I swatched these in the same order shown in the palette. All but ‘Puppy Love’ are shimmer shadows. The eyeliner is jet black. I tried to make a steady line but the brush is not great, at all. You will notice there is a bit of crumbs with ‘Sewage’. Not terrible, as I swatch with a swab. But, what I wanted to show you in the second photo is just how pretty the pencil color is. Surprisingly, the pencils are not named.

Now for the Night Villain look…

Spoiled; Maniac; Little Beasts; Extinction. I hear cheers from the neutral shadow-loving people! ‘Little Beasts’ is the closest to a matte with these four. However, I hesitate to even call it a matte. I see just the slightest bit of sheen to it. And you will notice how crumbly ‘Extinction’ is. That’s just with using a swab to ‘gently’ brush over the powders.

Here they are swatched…

Seriously, that pencil is a hot color! I had to try that one out…

I love bold lips and the evening look pencil does not hold bold back. I got into it more with the day look shadows…

It’s a bit hard to tell, but I did use the same pencil on my lips to color my right cheek. I don’t have any makeup on my face; no foundation or powder….BARE!!! I didn’t put on any mascara either. So, I just did the Day Evil tutorial from the book, without the eye primer and, used the Night Villain pencil for my right cheek and for my lips.

Gosh (again)! These are very awesome. There are a few shadows that are crumbly but none of them are hard. The eyeliner brush is crap but, I like the smooth glide of the product. I found the shades easy to apply and blend together.

Cruella is my least favorite villain. Probably why ‘101 Dalmatians’ is my least favorite Disney movie too. Maybe it’s that Cruella isn’t deadly gorgeous as Maleficent and Evil Queen. She looks like a maniac, crazed woman, which of course, she is. Yet, all of that aside, I adore this palette. I feel I got better than my $10 I spent on this.

What is your opinion on Cruella’s palette for Evil Everyday Eyes?
