Holiday 2014 Wet N Wild Fergie Beauty University Palette

I purchased the new Wet N Wild Fergie Beauty University palette, a Walgreen’s exclusive last week. Since I liked the one that came out last year so much, and this year’s had more shadows and lip glosses, I thought for sure this was going to be a winner. Last year’s palette was $20. This year’s is $30…

First off, the footprint of this palette is larger than last years. In fact, I found it not only oddly-shaped but also, it was rather difficult to open up the first time…

DSCF0035 DSCF0036

It was difficult getting the top open. The entire box feels cheaply made and I was considered I was going to break it before I even managed to get it open…

Next, the sides pull out to reveal the lip glosses and glitters…

I felt that the gray/black shadows had very little variance. Usually, when they are sitting in the pan right next to each other, you can see a color difference. But, I couldn’t and in the swatches, there’s none whatsoever…

It looks like only four, maybe five, different color swatches but this is the entire bottom row of shadows.

I did random swatches and felt that most were fairly well pigmented, but most of them were super crumbly and it seemed like a lot of waste was being created. I swatched a few of the glitters and as with most Wet ‘n Wild cream shadows, or lip glosses if I were to use them for that, are practically impossible to apply…

After the shadow swatches, I did some gloss swatching. I found that all but a few were super sheer and these wouldn’t have put a lot of pigment on my lips. Several of them are colorless even on my fair skin…

DSCF0060

The most disappointing thing I ran across was that just after dabbing my lip brush twice into the glosses, I was hitting pan. So one, these pans didn’t have a lot of product and two, the glosses were so runny that I knew they wouldn’t stay on my lips but for only a short time before migrating either completely off my lips or, on my face around my mouth…

And while the color range is pretty and there are a lot of choices…

The quality is not worth it in my opinion. For $30, I can go get a better quality palette, albeit with less number of shadows, at Ulta or a department store, for close to the same amount or, for just a few more dollars. In fact, I’d recommend the Profusion or L.A. Color palettes I have previously reviewed over this one.  I know I wouldn’t face the profound disappointment I have with this year’s Wet ‘n Wild Fergie Holiday palette.

Have you seen this display up at your local Walgreens? Have you or, do you plan on purchasing this?

Two 32 Piece Eye Palettes By ELF

I don’t stop by Big Lots as often as I did when I first started blogging. Some of it has to do with just not finding anything I really want there. However, right before Christmas, there was a Big Lots that was relocating and everything was 25% off. I got some Christmas wrapping and these…

Even if I ended up with some duplicate elf shades, THE PRICE!!!…

They do look similar however, these are two different palettes…

DSCF0307

And, as you know, elf has the good symbols on them…

The Classics is a must have. Maybe I should say it as ‘must have one’. But, no makeup lover can say one neutral palette is enough!…

Both palettes has an assortment of shimmers and mattes. And, they had them in just the right balance, in my opinion.

Most of the time, elf brushes are awesome. This one seems reluctant to cooperate…

DSCF0313

Actually, I wouldn’t have named this palette a Bright. These are just purple and browns. But, whatever. I’m still lovin’ them…

DSCF0314

Oops-a-daisy…

DSCF0315

And, the Brights palette has a mixture of mattes and shimmers…

DSCF0316

I did a few test swatches. I swatched, from the Brights,  the four shades in the third row down…

The black isn’t chalky at all!

And swatches from the Classics; four shades from the third row down…

Yes, the bottom swatch is shimmery and creamy and really rich!

By purchasing just these two palettes by elf, I no long need to purchase any more elf shades. I have covered all the basic and necessary shadow colors.

Oh, who am I kidding????? Do you have these? What’s been your latest score from Big Lots?

elf: 32 Piece Warm Eyeshadow Palette

Lately, my passion has been for palettes. Lots and lots of palettes! Even though I have several elf palettes, this one is a newer one. It has all these soft and bright shades, I had to get it…

This palette ranges from powder pinks to yellow golds and to bright purples…

These amazed me because they look really good! I always feel the need to let the person who is getting my business card that I took the photos.

Maybe you would be more interested in some swatches. I did just a few to test the pigmentation and the texture…

swatches toss trash reviews 078 swatches toss trash reviews 077I didn’t use any primer with these swathces. In fact, I just used the applicator that came with the palette. I didn’t find the product to be powdery however, the pigment seems to be on the weak side. Probably a shadow primer would brighten the intensity. When I used my makeup brushes to apply it on my eyelids, I was able to build it up reasonably. These are not as vivid as some of the other elf shadows I have, yet I am in no way disappointed with this palette.

Is there anyone else who obsesses like I do over makeup palettes?
