Icing Polish: So Fierce

I have an obsession with the recent type of nail polishes that look like sprinkles suspended in a murky jelly base. At first, it was rare to come upon them. However, now they are quite trendy. This is a cutie I got at Icing…

In the meantime, I am unable to polish my nails, wear perfume or fragrance lotions because of my brother’s fragrance sensitivity. So, I haven’t been able to change my polish as often as I have in the past. I wore this one for about a week and I didn’t mind at all. It’s just that pretty.

Revlon’s Bubblegum Days Urban Nights Might Be Hidden In Plain Sight; Know Where To Look

During the Holiday season, you have to keep in mind the rule of ‘Look Up!‘ That’s what I did yesterday at Walgreens and found the new display for Revlon’s Bubblegum Days Urban Nights collection…New Revlons 001 New Revlons 005That’s ‘Girly’ and ‘Heavenly’. I picked them right off the top shelf, thankyouverymuch. Seems silly to find full, new displays staged for placement on the floor when there are several displays that don’t have a lot of product left. Merchandising law says that’s a No No! And there’s your inside secret to finding new products.

I will have swatches coming, I promise. These are just too cute to tuck back into the Vanity Vault!

Milani Monday: Face Of The Day

This Milani Monday is a FOTD look. I used all Miani cosmetics to create it. Let’s start with the two eye shadows that I based this look around. These are from the Runway Eyes collection, which is a core collection…

‘Silver Charm’ is a soft color; not overly metallic-looking at all. ‘Royalty’ is a purply-violet that has lots of shimmer to it. ‘Royalty’ looks pink in the photos, but it is a lot more purple, which will show better in the swatches…

It might look like the sparkles are over-spray. However, I swirled into the pan and it stayed shimmery through.

I swatched both wet and dry. The larger swatch is dry while the narrow swatch is done wet…

‘Royalty’ is showing truer in the swatches.

To create my look, I used Milani for everything but the translucent facial powder. These are the Milani products I used…

From the top: my very favorite mascara, Total Lash Cover in Black; the lipstick is ‘Pink Love’; on top of the lipstick I used Haute Flash Full Coverage Shimmer Lipgloss in ‘Quick Flash’; I used two different eyeliners, both from the Shadow Eyez 12 Hour Wear Eyeshadow collection, ‘Green Safari’ and ‘Brown Deluxe’; and as the liner under my eyes, I used Color Play Felt-tip Liquid Pen in ‘White Line’.

This is how I got them all together…

Without a doubt, Milani’s products are very pigmented. I did the shadows wet and I couldn’t be happier with the intensity and blendability. The lipstick and gloss complimented each other very well.

In self-portraits, why is the nose made to look so huge!?? I wish it would make my lips look bigger. LOL

Do you have any of these Milani products?

Rehab For My Nails: Thanks To Flaunt Beauty Bar

I have mentioned several times, over the past few weeks, that my nails have been in rehab. They broke, tore, and became weak. I have been using a couple of products that I will give separate reviews on but I wanted to show that there has been some light at the end of the tunnel.

Here are the nasty critters before getting a manicure…

I snapped these photos before my friend, LaShon Evans, owner of Flaunt Beauty Bar, in Orlando, FL put her expertise to work. I told her I needed help and I knew she was the expert to help me out. She said not to worry my pretty lil head and come on in, she’d take care of me.

I bet she’s seen some doozies before, because she said my nails weren’t in all that bad of shape. She said that they were not as thin as I believed them to be, save for my two middle fingers. But, she said that with better TLC than what I have put forth, I could get back on track. And she gave my nails a makeover…

She cleaned them up and applied clear soak-off Gelish to stop the tears (even the weepy tears!). For the most part, they are all even and in uniform shape. My right index finger is the worst and it will take a bit of time for it to grow even. But, I am now hopeful.

Next, LaShon polished my nails with Barielle’s ‘Fancy Pantsy’…

‘Fancy Pantsy’ is a dusty pink with this awesome golden shimmer in it. It’s just lovely. In regular viewing of my nails, they look fine. But I am disappointed in how this polish applied on my nails…

It isn’t terrible but it just seems prettier in the bottle. LaShon agreed with me that the polish didn’t want to apply very well. It doesn’t spread out evenly. She had to really work with it so it wouldn’t be patchy. But she got the job done and I’m happy with my nail makeover.

Here’s one last photo taken in the shade…

You can see that the thumb just didn’t come off as smooth as we would have liked. Yet I am so happy I went to LaShon at Flaunt Beauty Bar. She not only gave me hope but I had a wonderful time with her as well. If you live in the Orlando area, I highly recommend her for all of your nail needs.

This is only the second or third Barielle that I have tried. I was supplied this from Barielle to review and even though I don’t dislike the polish, this one was difficult to work with. These are my own, honest opinions.

Nails Inc. Special Effects: Sprinkles Collection

It didn’t take much persuasion for me to seek out Nails Inc. Special Effects Sprinkles collection. All I needed to know was that they were at Sephora and I instantly planned my work schedule to visit clients at the same mall. Sephora got in only one set and if I wouldn’t have asked about them, I wouldn’t have gotten them…

This was a quick snap from my phone to Instagram so I could gloat.

Nothing like a good makeup score to feel high all day! Let’s begin checking out swatches. I used OPI’s ‘Sparrow Me The Drama’ as underwear for three of the four. Actually, all four could stand on their own. I went into the swatching thinking Sprinkles were topcoats only.

This tasty treat is ‘Topping Lane’…

This is a dusty pink with dark magenta, purple and silver glitter.

Here is ‘Sugar House Lane’ ….

Using the dusty pink ‘Sparrow Me The Drama’ made this one like more pink than it really is, alone. ‘Sugar House Lane’ is a light, dusty gray/lavender with silver and black glitter. Sort of a salt and pepper effect.

This is ‘Sweets Away’…

This is THE mani for a baby shower party! The base color in this is a dusty blurple and it is bursting with pink, blue teal and silver glitter. Are you hungry for cupcakes yet?

Last, I have ‘Pudding Lane’…

This is ‘Pudding Lane’ all alone; no underwear. This one is a blue base and has green, dark blue and silver glitter. I used three coats to achieve this coverage. On the others, I used 2 coats of ‘Sparrow’ and just one coat of the ‘Sprinkles’. ‘Pudding Lane’ has the most opaque base color, with ‘Topping Lane’ being the second.

These look very much like the popular ‘sammich’ nail from last year. But, I think I like ‘cupcake sprinkles’ better. These polishes by Nails Inc. apply really easy. The glitter is a bit gritty and even with a top coat, it doesn’t totally smooth it out. But it isn’t a harsh grit, just a wee bit bumpy. I used CND’s ‘Sticky’ as a base coat and Lumos top coat on all but ‘Topping Lane’. I used Seche Vite for that one. Both Lumos and Seche are top coats that speed up drying time and they worked perfect with ‘Sprinkles’.

If I had to pick a favorite, I’d have to be pressed to do so. Right when I pick one, I instantly change my mind. Besides making me happy and down-right giddy, this collection has me rubbing my palms together in a creative mode. What nail looks can I come up with next?

How are you going to wear your ‘Sprinkles’? Do you have a favorite shade?
