Revlon’s ColorStay Ultimate Suede in Preview

I always have a ‘just in case I need it’ lipstick hanging out in my purse. The one that I have been using for the last 6 weeks has been Revlon’s ColorStay Ultimate Suede…

My ‘go to’ shade is ‘Preview’…

This is like a high-performance lip balm. It is ultra smooth and makes my lips feel hydrated and soft. Springtime is very dry in the Rockies. I feel it around the tops of my cheeks and my lips the most. It’s great to have a lipstick that has awesome moisturizers like Colorstay.

‘Preview’ is a shade that isn’t too mauve and isn’t too pink. It’s just right!

I found the wearability to be around 3 hours before a touch-up. I picked this up at Walgreen’s for $9.99 as part of a buy one get one 1/2 price, so it cost me $7.50.  I think paying full price is a bit much at $10 for one. However, the quality is there and this color works any time for me. It’s like ‘my lips but better’ color.

Have you tried any of Revlon’s ColorStay Ultimate Suedes?

Revlon’s Bubblegum Days Urban Nights Might Be Hidden In Plain Sight; Know Where To Look

During the Holiday season, you have to keep in mind the rule of ‘Look Up!‘ That’s what I did yesterday at Walgreens and found the new display for Revlon’s Bubblegum Days Urban Nights collection…New Revlons 001 New Revlons 005That’s ‘Girly’ and ‘Heavenly’. I picked them right off the top shelf, thankyouverymuch. Seems silly to find full, new displays staged for placement on the floor when there are several displays that don’t have a lot of product left. Merchandising law says that’s a No No! And there’s your inside secret to finding new products.

I will have swatches coming, I promise. These are just too cute to tuck back into the Vanity Vault!

Studio M: Sparks Fly For A Holiday Look

It’s a crying shame that there are no Rite Aid drugstores in Florida. However, it’s a stroke of luck that I have a friend in Wisconsin, where there are RA, who can pick up some polishes for me. And when I saw the new Studio M polishes, I was burning up my email begging my friend to snag me some. I made this one into a Holiday manicure…

nail swatches Gosh 001nail swatches Gosh 002 nail swatches Gosh 003“Sparks Fly’ is very unique in my collection. The name is cute and I love hairy glitter. It doesn’t seem that many folks like bar glitter, but I do!

nail swatches Gosh 005 nail swatches Gosh 004Using Revlon’s ‘Cosmic’ from their Moon Candy collection, I whipped up some Holiday cheer for my nails. This dark green creme is almost a blackened green on the nails. But it does allow the red and silver glitter to twinkle…

nail swatches Gosh 009I did have to do a bit of glitter fishing as the bars would all end up at the tip. And, up close you can see that the clear base didn’t always smooth out.

Using Lumos Instant Impact Base Coat, I applied 2 coats of  Revlon’s ‘Cosmic’and then two coats of Studio M’s ‘Sparks Fly’…

nail swatches Gosh 015A lighter green shade would have given me the perfect look I was going for. But, Revlon’s Moon Drops creme polishes are some of the easiest cremes to work with. I don’t mind this creation.

Do you like hairy glitters? Does this manicure make you think of a big, mess of curly Christmas ribbons?

Icing’s Sunlit Pairs Up With Revlon’s Cosmic For A Swamp Thing Look

I found this random polish immediately say to myself that this is a great one for Halloween! I found this one at Icing and saved it til now…

Wild, isn’t it!? This is ‘Sunlit’ and I found it on the clearance shelf. Because it is so unique, I had to get it…

Let me see if I can describe this one. It’s a jelly and the base is a murky olive color. There is iridescent micro glitter in this along with a lot of bar glitter. The bar glitter is holo and some is medium green. And the green looks to be transparent. (Remember Toxic Seaweed from Cult Nails? This looks like the ‘real’ stuff!)

I didn’t feel that ‘Sunlit’ was going to turn out so good alone. So, I paired it up with a Revlon dual-end polish. I used the creme end of ‘Cosmic’…

I like this green so much! And, it is perfect for ‘Sunlit’…

My thumbnail has a hangnail and it didn’t get noticed until doing the posting. Groan…

I used two coats of Relvon’s ‘Cosmic’ and one coat of Icing’s ‘Sunlit’. That looks so much like stagnant, murky water. And, I’m sure there is some sort of swamp monster in there!

Does getting into water where you can’t see your feet creep you out too?

Time To Start Looking Up At Walgreen’s; Holiday Stuff Spotted

I know Christmas is near when I see beauty products lining the very top shelves at Walgreens…

Looks like Sally Hansen is coming out with a nail sticker that is gel-like in the fact that you use a little LED light, sold separately, to have the sticker adhere to the nail.

A few Walgreens, I have found, already have some of the Winter Holiday beauty products out on endcaps…

These shadow palettes are in three different collections. It’s cool that the color of these are ‘winky eyes’…

Very difficult to capture in a photo. And, sort of creepy, too!

And these will remind you of a very famous, and obviously duplicated, naked-colored palette…

It seems that prices haven’t changed too much from last year on these no-name brands. However, it does seem like they are working hard to duplicate what is found, and popular, at the higher-end makeup counters.

I even spied some more Revlon’s Moon Candy polishes…

I’m sure the nail stickers and regular polishes could have been new too. I just honed in on the Moon Candy collection as I am ‘star-struck’ over them. I got two new ones to add to my collection: Meteor and Eclipse. Those lovelies will be swatched and showing up soon.

Besides the Sally Hansen gel stickers, I haven’t seen any name brand products on the high shelves yet. Have you been checking your high shelves at Walgreens yet? What are you seeing?

I Spy…Revlon PhotoReady Palettes & Sally Hansen Winter Holiday Nail Strips

Talk about a double-edged sword! As a merchandiser, I work in retail stores. Not just one but many. And, while I adore being able to find new stuff, it also makes it hard to not purchase that stuff. Today I managed to keep my pocketbook in my car.

But, I did spy some cool things. This Revlon display caught my eye and I hadn’t even started looking! I was merchandising my products, which so happen to be right by the Harmon Department at a Christmas Tree Shops…

My cell phone camera doesn’t pick up the richness of the colors. However, except for a compelling packaging, I am sure I have dupes of these shades in my hundreds of shadow palettes and mineral shadows, at home. That’s how I reason with myself to not make a purchase. I am, actually, saving up for the Makeup Show next month.

My car went by Walgreens on the way home. I had to check to see what they had that I could possibly pass up. Yes, I was torturing myself…

Good heavens! Halloween is 4 weeks away and I spied Christmas nail strips. Sigh. Well, these are cute. I’m just not ready to start wearing Winter holiday stuff yet.

The elf Disney Villain palettes have been very successful. I reviewed all three on different posts:

Cruella Palette

Evil Queen Palette

Maleficent Palette

Now I find some simply horrid candy to go along with them. There are two more female villains to menace you. Seriously, I think that is poisonous candy. Yuck!!!…

I’m still good at keeping my dollars in my pocket. But I’m chomping at the bit for the Makeup Show to get here November 3 and 4.

I Spy…Lots Of Halloween and Fall Makeup From Wet ‘n Wild, Revlon, L’Oreal

(Picture heavy and snapped with my cell phone.)

Halloween makeup has been showing up in stores for better than a week now. I usually spot them at Walgreens first. Sinful Colors got their collection out in good time…

But, I also spied another Sinful Colors for Fall…

I think there might be two new colors in this collection. However, most of them I recognized and already have.

Revlon has a cute Halloween collection with stencils…

It wouldn’t be the same if Wet ‘n Wild didn’t do their Fantasy Makers collection for Halloween. I saw two different displays. One was an endcap, which is a larger display. And the other was a smaller version, as a sidekick, which is to the side of the endcap..

L’Oreal has several of their Runway collections out. This limited edition is ‘The Enchanted Queen’…

One of Revlon’s newer collection, ‘The Shanghai’ has rich, Fall colors. Unfortunately, I like powder shadows and these awesome shadow shades are creams…

There is a new retail store in Orlando called ‘The Christmas Tree Shops’. It isn’t just Christmas stuff, though. In fact, it’s more other kinds ofstuff! Owned by Bed, Bath & Beyond’, this store has a Harmon Department as well (Harmon stores have the makeup, skincare, cosmetics, hair care, etc. department).

I found this there…

And, here is one display that should be for Christmas that has sneaked in on us…

Just a couple more things to show you. I found this at Icing’s Store (And I have a great, big UGH on this)…

But, the REAL Halloween stuff was in the CANDY aisle…

So, besides a bag of each of those candies (which I used for a giveaway at a bloggers’ meet-up), this is what I came home with…

I got the Halloween charm earrings at the Christmas Tree Shops. I will be doing a post on the 8-pan Wet n’ Wild palette soon.

What Halloween makeup have you seen? What are you getting?

Revlon: Moon Candy Collection; Flakie Polish Treats

I’ve been polishing nail wheels and, actually, having fun doing that. Since my own, pathetic nails are out of commission and into rehab, I’ve taken to re-inventing the (nail) wheel. I was missing painting my nails.

Revlon has been releasing nail polish collections with dual-ended bottles. I reviewed one from the ‘Moon Candy’ collection last month here. This is the first time that I have used the dual-ends and it is quite nice for the ‘Moon Candy’ look.

Here are all the polishes from that collection…

The order of these shades will be the same on the nail wheels coming up too. Starting on the left: Galactic (dark Blue); Milky Way (dark Grey); Satellite (Burgundy); Supernova (Grey); Universe (dark Brick); Cosmic (Olive); Moon Dust (Black).

The opaque shades are all cremes…

And the accompanying glitters are in a faintly tinted base with shard-like flakies…

The cremes alone are gorgeous. I have worn Galactic (dark Blue) and Milky Way (dark Grey) without the flakie top coat. But, there is magic in the universe when these are used together…

I don’t think I will ever get tired of flakie glitters. It surely is one of my favorite polish looks. ‘Moon Candy’ polishes glow like the stars on the perfect, cloudless night…

Just some more goodness…

Take a gander and tell me which one you like best. Or, if you are like me, maybe you can’t pick because you like them all…

I used 2 coats of the creme and just one coat of the flakie top coat. I only had to do the tiniest bit of fishing for the glitter but only because I allowed myself to be fussy with it. I can’t say that the top coat is totally smooth; it does have some bumpiness to it. However, I didn’t put on a clear top coat over the glitter top coat. I would have done so if I would have worn these polishes just because I know that I’d be rubbing my finger tips over them habitually.

You can find these at almost all drugstores. I found mine at Walgreens. I still see them in a few stores but, never the entire collection. Did you get yours?

Revlon’s Moon Candy: Orbit

Revlon’s newest double-end polish set is called ‘Moon Candy’. This is the display I found at Walgreens. I snapped it with my phone camera so the picture really sucks. I went to Revlon’s website to see if there was a decent photo there and they didn’t have one. I didn’t want to steal a photo, but you can find a lot of photos and info on this collection if you google it…

Moon Candy makes me think of these…

and these…

Are those face orbs vomiting my space dust candy??? Ewwwww!!!

I got them all; I confess. Walgreens had the BOGO 1/2 price special so I went for it. The first one I picked to swatch is called ‘Orbit’…..

‘Orbit’, another candy! Well, the purple creme looks like a nice, healthy purple plum. The top coat is flakies. The base is a murky purple shade and those flakies are with no doubt, iridescent.

I would even like ‘Orbit’ just for the pretty plum polish…

But as soon as I snapped these photos, I ran back into the house and put on the top coat…

I love it. Flakes and all. I do want to mention that the creme was rather thick. In fact, it seemed to get thicker the more I kept putting the brush back in for more polish. The top coat, not so bad. I did put on two coats of the base color and two of the top. I used CND’s ‘Sticky’ for a base coat and this mani lasted two and a half days until I removed it.

This concept of having two polishes together in one packaging may not be popular with some bloggers, but I do like it. I really don’t need a full-size bottle of polish. I just don’t use up an entire bottle. However….at $6.99 a bottle, I think that’s a bit too much. So, the BOGO 1/2 off made it somewhat better.

Since I did get the entire collection, I’ll be doing more swatches. But, if you are eager to see more, you can visit Pointless Cafe blog. She did what she is calling ‘Down and Dirty’ swatches of Revlon’s new collection.

Are you going to try these out?
