Forever 21: Green and Brown Powder Palette

I can’t get enough of the Forever 21 splatter palettes. How about you? This is a very Fall-appealing palette…

polishes green eye 057Did I mention in the previous post on the purple palette that these only cost $4.80? In my books, very well worth it…

polishes green eye 058polishes green eye 059polishes green eye 025All but the white shadow are shimmery. The white has a sheen to it, though. All are fairly well-pigmented and build to a bold color when used with a shadow primer. These swatches, however, don’t have any primer going on. They are all swatched in the order on the palette…

It really goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway…I love mixing the purple and the browns together. The combos are endless.

Have you seen this palette at Forever 21? Which one do you like more…the purple/grey one or, this green/brown?

Milani Cosmetics: Limited Edition Naturally Chic Shadow Eyez Pencils

When I saw a review on my friend Nouveau Cheap‘s blog on the new Milani eye pencils, my search began. I am a huge Milani fan. So, you can imagine my frustration when I found out the Walgreens here in the Denver area do not sell Milani *gasp*

I was back in Florida for a couple of weeks last month and you know darn well I hit up the Walgreens store there. I snagged these up like the tourists snag up on souvenirs…

samples milani eye pencils 010Not only did I find the colors to be awesome but also, there was that promise of ’12 Hour Wear’. Even Nouveau Cheap said that these lasted hours on her oily lids. I became hopeful.

However, I had to photo them and swatch them before I went to try them out…

I had fun swatches these lovelies as they were utterly creamy and smooth. Talk about rich pigmentation…

samples milani eye pencils 020These may be considered neutral shades but there is nothing quiet about them; hyper-color.

samples milani eye pencils 024Shown in direct sunlight, it is easy to see how rich these pencils are.

At that point, I thought I was finished swatching. I went to wash my hands and arm and this is what happened after a good scrubbing, with handsoap…

samples milani eye pencils 032What happened was NOTHING! These swatches did not BUDGE! I was excited to swipe them on my eyelids to see if this was really true. Now, I don’t have any photos but, I got crease in less than 90 minutes. However, this test was flawed because 1) I applied the pencil right over a day’s worth of shadow and 2) I didn’t use a primer.

I did wear the Espresso Lane as a liner on Friday and it worked fine. I used Golden Bronze as a liner, as well, on Saturday and it stayed on for hours. I may just have to keep these pencils away from the crease in my eyelids. But, I’m not done experimenting. Bawaaahaahaaahaaaa!

Did you get any of Milani’s Shadow Eyez for yourself? How’s it holding up for you?

Forever 21: A New Nude Palette

Even a ‘no-buy’ limitation on myself doesn’t stop me from wanting ALL THE EYESHADOW PALETTES!!! I had to yell because, well, it’s seriously true.

Two things go into breaking this rule: 1) The price is soooo good, 2) experience has shown that this brand was good in the past, and 3) no will power. OK, that’s three so, let’s not count that last one, shall we?

Here’s a new Forever 21 eyeshadow palette…

nail swatches Gosh 026 nail swatches Gosh 029 And, it is a NUDE palette to boot! Why, every makeup blogger knows you have to have at least one nude shadow palette on the vanity. I want to make totally sure that I’m covered. I mean, what would happen if I would accidentally drop one? Or, someone would break into my house and raid the vanity! Gasp!!! Maybe I’d misplace one and be frantic until I found the backup. (Not that any of these, save for dropping one, are remotely going to happen. But, you never know…)

What a heavenly lineup…

nail swatches Gosh 036 nail swatches Gosh 034 nail swatches Gosh 033The sunlight washes a few of these shades out. So, none of the shades are identical. But, they all compliment each other.

The Forever 21 store that I found this at had not been gentle with these palettes and, even some other styles, as well. It was my duty to provide a warm and loving home/vanity to a special palette. Actually, this one was the one with the least broken shadows…

nail swatches Gosh 032It didn’t hurt to ask the sales associate if I could get a discount because it was blemished and all the other ones were much more damaged. At first I was told a 10% discount. I said that it would be better if it was 25%. The store manager was brought in and she said that 15% was the highest she could go. Well, the palette was only $5.80, so I agreed.

And, I still got some great photos that I can use in future business cards…

Milani Monday: Shadow Eyez 12 Hour Wear Eyeshadow Pencils

Eyeshadow pencils that have good pigment AND don’t crease are hard to find. Oh, you’ll find plenty of companies telling you that their pencils last but, if you have oily eyelids like me, one can almost give up even trying to find such an animal.

I have had a lot of success with Milani Cosmetics so, I was very hopeful that their 12 Hour Wear Eyeshadow pencils in their Shadow Eyez collection would hold up. Here are a couple I have…

“Champagne Toast’, which the name says it all and, ‘Royal Purple’ which is a perfect purple shade. Both of these glide on like a professional ice skater across the ice…smooth. And, as no surprise, pigment overload!…

These are chubby pencils. I still like to use these for liners as well, even though they will give a thicker line. It is good for getting a smokey eye look. And, as creamy as these pencils are, you can smudge them out every easily.

Both are vibrant…

‘Champagne Toast’ seems to be lighter in color once it is drawn onto the skin. It makes for a dramatic highlight shade on the brow bone. And, ‘Royal Purple’ is about as matte as you can get without actually being a matte; just a smidgen of shimmer in there. That way, it keeps it in the 2010′s rather than in the 1070′s.

I actually like wearing these two shades together because they blend so easily and create a fun contrast…

As much as I like ‘Shadow Eyez’, I don’t get a 12 hour wear out of them. If I apply a shadow primer, I will get about 6 hours of no creases. Do keep in mind, I have oily eyelids and I’m in Florida. Your mileage may vary. When I use a primer and then one of these pencils over that, covering my eyelid, and then apply powder shadows over that, I get an intense look that wears long and beautifully for a good 8 hours.

I have a feeling that these would work perfectly, for me, in the winter temps, and in locations not as humid as Florida. I have several shades from this collection and they all are gorgeous. Save from having to work with them in a humid location, I have no complaints about Milani’s ‘Shadow Eyez’.

Have you tried any of these pencils my Milani? Which ones do you like?

These products have been given to me to review. This is my own, honest opinion.

Sugarpill: Addicted To Pretty Palette

I got my first SugarPill Makeup palette. I never would have known about SugarPill if I wasn’t into blogging. And I have heard nothing but good stuff about this brand. So when I received an email saying I had won this palette, I was thrilled…

This is the Addicted To Pretty collection. Hey, there’s a girl and a kitty on it! I had high expectations for these shadows and I can’t say I’m disappointed. I am surprised at how large the shadow tins are. They are BIG!!…

Top: Acidberry; Velocity; Botton: 2AM; Mochi

All these shades a a bit darker than the photos show. But their intensity is not hidden…

The palette is quite heavy and sturdy. The top snaps down closed with a magnet. This baby isn’t going to accidentally open on you.

No swatches to show you yet. And I will do those along with an Eye of The Day look soon. I can’t wait to see what I come up with!

How about you? Do you have this palette and what look did you create?
