Maple Holistics Argan Oil Shampoo; A True Winner

As I mentioned in my post about Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner, my hair was in need of moisture. I had the chance to bring back even more moisture while shampooing using another Maple Holistics hair product. Now a new favorite shampoo: Argan Oil Shampoo by Maple Holistics.

Even though the Argan Oil Shampoo and the Silk 18 Conditioner are from different ‘families’ of the Maple Holistics hair product lines, they both work great for my hair that has been so much healthier since I have continued to use the Silk 18.

What I am really digging about this shampoo is that my hair is soft after I rinse it out. I rarely have shampoos that make my hair feel like I could actually skip the conditioning part.

So, here are all the good things that are in Maple Holistics Argan Oil Shampoo:

No sulfates. Lots of healthy oils. My hair gives Argan Oil Shampoo a thumbs up before I even step out of the shower. I like that it is made right here in the US. This 8 oz bottle costs just $10 on their website! I would honestly expect to pay more for this because this shampoo is more luxurious than any shampoo I have purchased at the drugstore. It is high-end quality.

I am going to agree that this shampoo would be for almost any hair type. Normally, folks that have fine, with a good curl to it hair would stay away from any hair product that has oil in it. Like I normally would. But, this Aragan Oil Shampoo is not like that. My hair has volume and lots of softness. I’ve had a trying year, health-wise. My scalp has been itchy (one of my medications I have been taking makes my entire body itchy!) and, without giving any medical advice, I will tell you that this shampoo has calmed the scalp itchies for me.

The shampoo has a soft vanilla fragrance that I don’t mind even washing my face with while I’m in the shower. I love the smell of it!

I know you are eager to get this Argan Oil Shampoo into your shower! Here’s where you can get yours:

But wait! There’s more!! I’m a free sample-driven customer! So, you can get a free sample and see for yourself!

I have some questions…Maple Holistics has a blog called Maple Blog. They asked me to share this article with you. I’ve never tried a dermaroller. If you have, tell me about your experience with it. Benefits of Using a Dermaroller.

Maple Holistics asked me to review this product in exchange for a review. These are my own, honest opinions about the product.

Toss or Trash: November 2014

I have been on a ‘use whatcha got’ kick rather than a ‘buy everything’ mode. Admittedly, there is a lot of satisfaction in this!

Some of my motivation has been finding a shampoo (and conditioner) that will give my hair moisture for at least two days. And, since my hair has been dry, it has also been breaking. So, between using ultra-moisturizing conditioners, I have been using Suave’s Natural Infusion Anti-Breakage Shampoo…

DSCF0003 DSCF0004

I bought the accompanying conditioner of this, as well, however, I use up conditioners much faster. While I didn’t get the max of 95% less breakage, I did see a reduction. And, while this shampoo does work, it didn’t seem to do much in the way of adding moisture to my locks. Once I get a better handle on my hair retaining moisture longer, I believe the breakage will cease.

Along with finding a shampoo and conditioner combo that moisturize, I have been refraining from using hair spray or, at least a spray that doesn’t dry my hair out. Since I am self-employed and work alone, sometimes I can go all day without even needed to wear makeup or go beyond a ponytail for a hairstyle. But, since I have been growing out my bangs, I have needed a touch of hairspray to keep my hair out of my eyes. I have been using Dove’s Style & Care Strength & Shine Extra Hold Hairspray…

DSCF0011 DSCF0012

Even though this is the ‘extra strong’ strength, I didn’t find it to be so strong that it made my hair stiff or crunchy. There’s virtually no fragrance to this so for those that may be sensitive to fragrances, you might consider trying this one. I don’t know that I saw my hair having enhanced luminosity but, it didn’t dull my hair either. And, I didn’t find Style & Care to be overly-drying to my hair. On the other hand, I don’t think it added moisture either. I would repurchase this hair spray just because it didn’t out and out make my hair feel dried out.

One type of beauty product I don’t have lots of is mascara. Probably because I can be really fickle with all other types of beauty products but I stay close to a select three different mascaras. I was trying out Covergirl Lash Blast Luxe after reading positive reviews on it…

DSCF0005 DSCF0006 DSCF0008

While I did find the brush to work very well, the product itself, dried up quicker than my other mascaras. If you look closely, you can see that some of the spikes on the wand are not even coated with the product. I don’t feel that this tube lasted as long as most. However, there isn’t an easy way to find out if I even bought an old tube. It could have been on the shelf for a long time before I purchased it.

As I stated, I don’t switch mascara brands very often. However, if presented with the opportunity to try Lash Blast Luxe again, I would just because I did like how the wand performed.

Earlier this year, I was working as a merchandiser for Unilever and I received Degree Clinical Protection antiperspirant/deodorant at a regional meeting…

The ‘Stress Control’ fragrance was one of the newer fragrances at the end of last year. I was excited to try this one. Even though the ‘clinical’ type of deodorants are more expensive and, there is less product in these compared to the regular stick deodorants, I found that the clinical protection truly does work better. They have twice the amount of active ingredient.

The last photo of the deodorant shows not only how the product is delivered but also, this is all used up. There isn’t any more product to dispense. Of course, I rotate about three deodorants at a time so, I didn’t get caught without any. However, do keep in mind that you can’t quite tell when this product is about to run out. I have replaced it because this is my current favorite deodorant.

How have you been doing with using up beauty products rather than making new purcases? What’s your favorite deodorant?

L’Oreal: Power Moisture Hydrating Shampoo and Triple Resist Ultimate Strength Solution

I have challenged myself, as a beauty AND animal lover, to each year eliminate one beauty brand that still does animal testing from my shopping list. I have to say that picking L’Oreal this year has been a challenge. I love L’Oreal products. However, I hate animal testing more.

You will continue to see reviews from me on various L’Oreal products, all of which I purchased prior to the end of 2013. These are two that I have just finished up using; Power Moisture Hydrating Shampoo and Triple Resist Ultimate Strength Solution…

I moved to the Denver area 14 months ago from Orlando. Good bye humidity; hello dry skin and hair. It has taken longer for my hair to normalize than for my skin. But, I didn’t waste any time in purchasing products that gave lots and lots of moisture to both.

Just last year, L’Oreal came out with several new niche products for various hair-related issues. I was eager to try some of them out. First was to get a hydrating shampoo as that is the quickest product that can make or break (literally!) hair!…

Power Moisture Hydrating Shampoo made my hair instantly soft. I tried this product after going through 2 previous bottles of L’Oreal’s Total Repair 5. That was more moisturizing than Power Moisture however, I was experimenting to see if it was better than Total Repair 5.

The aroma is full and you get creamy suds which I know some may not care for. Since my hair is long, I do use a nice size dollop of ‘poo. I felt I was able to rinse out the shampoo very easy and my hair did feel very clean and healthy. Since I always follow up with conditioner, since I get massive tangles,  Power Moisture worked very well with whatever the conditioner of the moment was.

The after shampooing and conditioning care of my hair is probably more important than the washing part! This is where I can get a lot, no wait…..A LOT of breakage and shed. Earlier this past Fall and early Winter, I had so much breakage that I was alarmed. Before I decided to head off to the doctor, I switched up to a haircare product specifically to strengthen my locks before my hair became visibly thinning. Personally, I felt I could see that is was thin but to anyone else, I sure they wouldn’t have seen what I was seeing. Vanity isn’t used too flippantly around me.

Once more, picking out a newer L’Oreal product, I tried ….

DSCF0005 DSCF0006

Let me tell you that this product is awesome. It did make my hair stronger and has been vital in being part of my regimen to keep my hairs in my head. I didn’t have to drench my hair with Triple Resist either. I just did a few squirts at the roots, temples and ends and gently. with a wide-tooth comb, comb through my hair.

The fragrance is so mild that I had to open the bottle to even find an aroma. This spray isn’t sticky or greasy; nothing! But, oh, did it work! The info on the bottle was convincing and it wasn’t until I got home that I read through all the ingredients. Here’s your opportunity to read them too…

Did you know amino acids are the building blocks to your body AND your hair? Arginine is one of those and it creates a bonding effect with hair, which is a protein. Proteins are made with a combination of amino acids. I was pleasantly surprised to see the ingredient Arginine as the third listed one and not WAY down the list. And is that citronellol I see listed? Extra points for keeping mosquitoes away!!!!

Triple Resist has a very cool delivery system. This type of nozzle really does help me from OD’ing with too much product…

DSCF0011 DSCF0013

Even though I thoroughly believe these two L’Oreal products have helped my hair return to a healthier state, I have had to make new product choices. I have discontinued purchasing Essie and OPI (a choice I made last year), which wasn’t near as difficult. And other brands have been even easier yet to leave behind because of their animal testing. Much like when I gave myself a year challenge of eating no fast food, it wasn’t easy at first. In fact, I still have people ask me in amazement ‘You don’t like fast food!!??’ Well, no, I did like fast food and many items I bet I still do. I have just made a choice to not use those products because I do not believe them to be healthy from my body. I’m choosing to not purchase L’Oreal products because I do not believe it is necessary to test on animals and I do not wish to purchase from them because of that.

I’d like to challenge you to give up one brand this year that isn’t cruelty-free. Which one will you pick?

Toss Or Trash: December 2012

During the Winter Holidays, I burned up as many Bath and Body Works candles as I could. Here are some that are done and I loved them all…

swatches toss notd 130Merry Mistletoe was a very soft fragrance; not bold at all. I found Sparkling Icicles to be the same way. But I enjoyed it. After I had burned these to the end, I set them on the floor by my bookcase. I see how dusty that place is!!

swatches toss notd 135I actually only had one Merry Mistletoe. It got another photo op here. And I loved all of these too. My house had the fragrance of Christmas, if nothing else.

Then, I used up quite a bit of hair products…

swatches toss notd 142Love me some Pantene! I stocked up, big time, when these there 75% at CVS almost 2 years ago. It was worth it. I got the Rock Your Hair hairspray this year at Premiere Orlando. It’s an awesome hairspray without being overly stiff. I have seen this line off and on at Ross Dress For Less. If I find it again, I will repurchase it.

The next two from Macadamia Natural Oil surprised me. I am just sort of OK on the hairspray. It only had a mild hold, it did smell good and my hair didn’t feel dried out from using it. However, it is rather expensive at around $23. And the cleansing conditioner, at almost $40, was a total waste, in my opinion. I didn’t get the soft hair I usually get when I use the leave-in oil treatments by Macadamia Natural Oil. And, this can was a hold down pump to dispense. It didn’t hold a lot of product. I won’t be repurchasing either of these two.

There wasn’t much in the way of makeup…

swatches toss notd 152Nailene’s Miracle Worker was sent to me for review. I loved it! But now, I can’t find anywhere to repurchase it! My nails are naturally thin and this treatment was one of the best I have ever used. The Ardell false eyelashes were just plum used up. These are my favorite stye too. They became too ragged to wear anymore. I’m on the lookout to replace this style. The Avon product is a cream concealer. I ran across this de-stashing my old stuff. I don’t think they make this anymore, as I have had this since the ’90’s. 😉 As you can tell, that green concealer hid a lot of red spots/areas on my face. I liked the consistency because it stayed put, period! Since I can’t truly remember how long I’ve had this, I am throwing it out.

The Lush Lip Scrub was good. I got one of those little desposible test spatulas to take out a bit of the product. Then, I took that little scoop of product into the shower and used it there. It was a lot less messy that way. As much as I loved this product, I feel I can find something just as good for half the price. I feel Lush’s prices to be way out of line for what they deliver. I found a lip scrub that has a lip balm in the cap by Victoria’s Secret for half the Lush price. If you don’t worry about money, this Lip Scrub is all that.

Last is Cellnique Renewal Serum. I reviewed this, initially, here. I loved it then and I love it even more now. This was a wonderful product to use. I used it both for my day and night time ritual. This, along with the Reversal Platinum Cream, are a top favorite skincare line for me. If I did not have other skincare products to review, these two are difinitely a set I would use continually. I’m sad to see this used up. And, just this week, I used up the Reversal Platinum Cream. Boo hoo.

Anything here that you have tried and liked?
