January’s Toss or Trash Segment

I am challenging myself to finish more products this year and I have been doing, in my opinion, a grand job!

Here are my finishes for January, starting with the top of my head…

Suave’s Moroccan conditioner for color treated hair. This one is a keeper just for the fragrance! This large bottle runs about $5. It doesn’t strip my hair color as fast as a regular conditioner for dry hair and I use the matching shampoo. I don’t have to be skimpy on using a lot of this conditioner since it is so inexpensive.

I keep at least 3 deodorants in rotation because, it seems, if I use just one all the time, I become resistant to its affects. Degree is one of my favorite brands as it works fairly hard…

Plus, I love the smell of lilacs. Not that I continually smell my pits after using this. Hee hee! This Degree line doesn’t leave white marks on my darker clothing so it’s a keeper too.

Boy, my poor hands have taken a beating this winter! Thank goodness I stock up on Silk Elements Shea Butter with Olive Oil Hand Cream when Sally’s has it on sale before Christmas…

This is another product that I love the fragrance. I highly recommend this hand cream and it is my favorite. Extra points for it keeping my elbows soft too.

It seems that over the last 3 months my Toss or Trash segments have the running theme of moisturize. Lush’s Charity Pot lotion was highly recommended to me for being super humectant but, I allowed myself to get side-tracked while I was at the Lush store and got its predecessor, Formulae Known As…

I did get a little sample of Charity Pot and in retrospect, I should have gone with that because it is must more moisturizing than Formulae Known As. I won’t be replacing this lotion but will be getting Charity Pot next time.

Another product that I never want to be without is Bath & Body Works’ Stress Relief body wash…

You won’t find me without the partnering lotion of this fragrance either. Not only does this body wash not dry my skin out but, it is like bathing in liquid Valium. Stress Relief has been a staple at the vanity before there even was a vanity!!! If fragrance has an effect on you, let this one melt away all your tension and let it flow right down the shower drain. This wash, along with the lotion, are easy to snag for around $5 on sale at B&BW throughout the year.

My Three All Time Beauty Favorites

We all have our very, very favorite beauty products. They are the products that we will go back to after trying out something else. Beauty bloggers know this well.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy trying out new products. And, I have made more new discoveries than the number of favorites I keep. I would like to share with you 3 of my ultimate favorites…

favorite products earring fixer 028I won’t be without my Silk Elements ‘Shea Butter with Olive Oil’ hand cream. There is always a tube on my bed stand and one in my bathroom or kitchen. The smell is soft and feminine. The lotion is creamy and doesn’t make my hands greasy. I use it on my elbows when they are dry and have been using it on my heels recently too. This hand cream is found at Sally’s and cost around $3.

My skin loves Dove’s ‘Cream Oil’. Again, not a lotion that leaves my skin greasy. No flaky or dry skin for me! Dove’s lotion is, again, one that smells lovely. Yet, it doesn’t overwhelm or interfere with my perfume of the day. Even before I moved to Colorado, I used Dove to keep my skin soft. I haven’t had one patch of dry skin since moving here in January. I purchase mine at either Walmart or Target.

And last, L’oreal’s ‘Total Repair 5’ hair conditioner. There’s a shampoo that accompanies it and I love it too. But, I am IN LOVE with this conditioner! It’s new to my favorite list though. I was looking for a very hydrating conditioner earlier this year and L’oreal had just released this new line along with 4 other hair care lines. I picked this one first and found that it made my hair extremely soft. Occasionally, since it is a rather new product, I can find  coupons for it. Again, I purchase this at Walgreens or Target.

One thing that is a part of my morning routine is to use a wide-tooth comb to comb my hair while the conditioner is still in my hair. ‘Total Repair 5’ conditioner allows the comb to glide right through my hair with no snags or knots. And, as with the other two favorites, I like the smell of this conditioner.

Here’s the theme I discovered with these three favorites: soft and smells lovely. They do the job I purchase them for and that makes them my favorites.
