Metal Gear Nails

A pedicure and a manicure can make you feel so pampered.   And, having professional ones makes all the difference.  I, finally!, got that pedicure that was needed.  And the manicure helped tame my cuticles and shape my nails uniformly.

Here’s Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure in ‘Pedal to the Metal.’  This picture is taken at the sunny window.

Here’s the sunshiny, outside light one.  That’s some strange anomaly on the ring finger.  Not there in real life.

There…that’s better.  And this is a much better representation of this color.  It’s a dusty, lavender, slightly metallic flavor.  Oh, and the husband had on the matching shirt.  Just by accident…

And what a great pedicure!  I got one with lots of massaging.  And sloughing.  And tidying up the nails.  Here’s a cutie, Eva Supreme Nail Laquer in ‘Paris’…

Outside in some beautiful sunlight.  It was rare today, but I got some!

A closer look of my mermaid-colored toes and the lacquer.

The sunny window did a fair job of catching this frosty, light green polish.  It makes me think of sea foam.  Even though real sea foam is white. :p  It looks like a very pale green metallic.

Both of these are with 2 coats after a BS.  At the salon she put a top coat on and when I got home I added 2 coats of Seche Clear and then finished with Seche Vite.

Both colors are pale and pastel.  I think they are very light and feminine.  Neither my hands or feet are screaming ‘COLOR’!!!!

And flashing back…here is an eye shadow from Essence I picked up at Ulta on Friday:

Not only does it match the tank top I was wearing, but it goes with my nails as well.  This ‘new to me orange’ is called ‘Wild One’ from the Sparkling Line.  The photo doesn’t quite show the shadow’s sparkles.  It looks, actually, matte in the photo.  But it has a shimmer with teeny little sparkles.

‘Wild One’ is an appropriate name, I never used orange shadow.  I feel wild wearing orange, and blue for that matter, eye shadows.  However, I have seen some super cute makeup blogs and tutorials using orange.  There’s MissChievous , Lauren Luke and Frantastic  just a few of my very favorites.  I liked the look so I’m going for it!  Caution to the wind!  I’m deviating from a middle-aged woman to a wanton girl!  Yea…I know…that’s really funny.  Or…scary.

Nails Etc. And The College Giveaway

Rebecca is Nails Etc. and she is having a quite nice giveaway.  There are some brands in this one that are new to me.  And there’s one color called Wichita.  I happen to have lived there and went to Wichita State University!  (Oh, that’s in Kansas, by the way.) So, that would be totally cool if I win this one.  I’ll have to let Rebecca know.  😉

Minali’s Summer Metal Collection

I saw a brand new Milani display at CVS last weekend.  They had to have just put it out as it was still all full.  I wish I would have taken my camera.

I can’t believe my restraint, I chose just one….that time.  Yesterday I went back and snagged 3 more (more on that in a forthcoming post).  However, it was slim pickings.

This is the first one I picked up, Metal Gear…

This picture, out in the sun, captures this color perfectly.  Foiled orange with a really high shine.  Being rather new to this, I think Metal Gear would be classified as a foil.  But boy, it didn’t act like your typical one.  It went on smooth and without streaks.

Here it is in the sun:

This is after one day of wear.  There is a bit of tip wear but I didn’t take the necessary steps to counter it.  I used one BS, 2 coats of Seche Clear, 2 coats of polish, and finished with 1 coat Seche Clear then Seche Vite.

Here’s how it looked inside by a sunny window.  High shine.  And I think the shiniest orange I have ever seen.  I’m not into orange polish because I don’t think it looks great against my blue-tone skin.  However, Metal Gear is so pretty I’m willing to throw caution to the wind and wear it.

Today I’m getting a professional manicure to deal with the dead skin around the cuticles.  I’m starting to pick at it, albeit with my cuticle trimmers.  But I can’t seem to make it look clean.  Oh, and a pedicure is apart of this day of luxury. 🙂

What do you think of this hot, summer color?  Think it’s good for summer or, better off as a fall color?  Both?  And, do you like/wear orange polish?  I’m very interested in your thoughts.

Can’t Beat Beatz Blog; I Got My Prize

This is what I won from Beatz.  She had a giveaway last month and I was lucky enough to be the winner.

I knew the prize was the set of rhinestone setters.  But, she threw in a little special surprise…False Eyelashes!

Can you see that the color inside each pen is a swirled ribbon?  Neat!!

And just dig these falsies!!  Look at the thickness of the lashes and the topper, those long wispies!!!  I can’t wait to be battin’ those babies!  🙂

Beatz, she’s the best!   She has the cutest eye shadow and lip look today.  I’m totally envious of her skills, both nails and makeup.  Check out her blog.

Sebastian (Libby’s litter brother) and Libby were beside themselves that I was out on the patio taking these pictures.  They know they are not allowed outside….silly Ragdolls!

How I Got the Fittest I’ve Ever Been & New Body Parts

If you happened to check out my ‘About Me’ on the sidebar, there’s a mention about doing fitness workouts to DVD’s.  If you ever thought that these workouts were no more than just standing and marching in place, that’s far from the truth!
I submitted my personal story about the power of a particular instructor’s workouts and what they did for me.  I’d like to share that story with you.

I’m A Hip Chick

Polka Dots and Lace

This is an inspiration I dreamed about.  Really!  The lacy part was to be a tied bow.  However, I found I don’t have a Konad or, Faux-nad of one.  Hard to believe since I have several Konads and got the Monster Bundle.  So, I came as close as I could with what I dreamed.

Just look at the thumb and the pinky, OK?
                                                      Light in a sunny window.

My hand catching some rays out in the sunlight.

In the sunny window, again.  Can you tell I’m proud of my thumb the most? 🙂

My thumbs and pinkys turned out the way they were supposed to.  I chalk up the other fingers to ‘practice.’  Ohhhh…really dry cuticles.  And I have been using Lush’s Lemony Flutter like crazy.
This is the Light as Air from China Glaze which I reviewed previously.  I used MB18 with black Konad polish and Migi black pen for the polka dots.
Sexy and cute at the same time?  It’s gratifying to actually create something I dreamed about.  Most of those dream creations are well beyond my ability to replicate.

Are you able to replicate something you have dreamed about?
